I know our Asda (Tamworth) was clearing the shelves in readiness Thursday night. I thought exactly the same thing, another year gone :((

year gone?? it`s september for gods sake.
why do shops insist on inflicting this horrible seasonal rubbish on us earlier and earlier each year?
i remeber when nothing was at all christmassy until the first of december.

Guys, stop for a second and spare a thought....

For poor bastard Westy, who, as a retail manager for Tesco has now got to endure this for the next 5 months. :-(

Organising agency staff, overtime costs, trying to find room for the stupid amount of xmas stock that pours into the store, having to put up with shoddy distribution who cock it up every year,(guys, even 7 hours late would be a bonus this year..), then the post xmas reductions, the many smashed jars of Branston pickle, and then of course, the fact that i only have 2 days off.

Oh how depressing....

Westy,
I know what you mean!!! Same line of business, same company, same crap, when the first bd600 (westy will know) dropped onto my desk a month or so ago, with allocations of pickles, sweets etc etc I nearly cried ;( might have done if I hadn`t been trying to get rid of the mountain of BBQ and suntan lotions!!!!

I can honestly say I no longer look forward to xmas, working 12-14hrs 6days a week, for what easter eggs on the day after boxing day, my life is one big seasonal cycle!!!!

But hay we get to dress up and have parties and things!!!!! We wouldn`t do it if we didn`t love it really. All the best :)

Don`t worry it will all be over soon and then it will be easter, more chocs!!

Aaah, the BD600, every stock controllers` nightmare!
To make things worse for me i`m an out of hours manager so the pressure is on us to keep things in check!!

But yes, we love it, the parties, the sweepstakes, (when i was at Cardiff Extra i used to just sit at the back office computer for 10 minutes watching the sales drastically increase every 10 seconds, something stupid like £30k every half hour at one point!), the fancy dress - yes its ok really!

BTW, which store are you in? Penarth Marina,(really posh), in Cardiff for me.

Yes you said it, nightmare!

Out of hours, let me guess you have got an internet cafe at your place, we had one in worcester when I worked there, night manager spent most of the night on it!!! Got rid of it now, I think he was the only one who used it!!!!

It`s not the work that kills me it`s the hour either side traveling, gets so boring especially when your stuck out in the cotswolds!!!! Got to get all the xmas wrap ready to go on sale tommorrow + the boss is back afer 3 weeks off, so the sh*t is going to hit the fan!!!! (No reason though, I just think he like to throw it :-)

spare an even larger thought for people like myself ( nurses ). We work eveyday of the year as if it is any other. not even xmas day off !! the work doesnt ease up and you get to spend xmas day and quite possibly new year with very ill people who arent your family. Give me your retail job, you probably earn more. What is overtime and holiday pay ???
