Page 1 of `Insomnia`? I was gripped
General Forum
I saw Insomnia last night and was very impressed, the performances were unifomly excellent - another Oscar for Mr Pacino or Williams? Even though I thought the film was very well made, coming after the head-f*** that was Memento, you could argue that it was just another stylish crime thriller? I`ll now have to make sure I watch the original Norwegian version, which I`ve got on video somewhere from when it was shown on ch4.

RE: `Insomnia`? I was gripped
I agree, best crime/thriller since Seven in my opinion. I also thought BOTH Pacino & Williams were awesome on-screen together, despite the harsh treatment the later has received in the media for his performance.
I saw it on Sunday afternoon.. after a heavy saturday clubbin.. and as Al Pacinos insomnia got steadly worse.. I began to feel sicker and sicker..
Watching him was truly disturbing.. FANTASTIC FILM

The best film I`ve seen this year.
If you miss this then what`s wrong with you?
It`s movies like this that restore my faith in Hollywood
Pacino and Williams are at the peak of their abilities
Go watch it already!
I just got this on dvd and have to agree with the general opinion on this thread.
What a fantasticly directed movie. Christopher Nolan is definately gonna become thought of as one of the greats in years to come.
I thought the transfer wasn`t particuarly good though, it looked a wee bit blurred and too much red hue on the region 1 widescreen version.
But an excellent movie that proves to Hollywood that a reamke can be good in it`s own right. Pacinos` best since the godfathers in my opinion.
I saw this a while ago, and whilst I liked it, I think "Memento" is a far superior film...one of the reasons being it was ORIGINAL and "Insomnia" was `more of the same`, but undoubtedly Nolan`s talents and Pacino and Williams` good performances elevated it above the run of the mill thriller, but I doubt I will purchase it. Anyway, an enjoyable couple of hours. :)
Agreed, I still think Memento is one of the best films ever made but I did`nt think that Insomnia beared any resemblance to it.
Christopher Nolans first movie, Following (availiable region 1 from play.com) is well worth watching if you`ve not seen it and used very similar editing to Memento but unfortuantely had a terrible actor as the lead role.
Well I thought Insomnia was brilliant, but not a great crime story. I thought it was a character study of Pacino.
Another great film is Donnie Darko. Just saw it today at a "preview" screening (came out in USA a year ago). Truly original and brilliant.
