I`m still waiting for my Pandora. :(

I was reading something about how in Japan there is a utility to transfer PSP UMDs to the Vita, and how it won`t be available in the EU/US because games are much cheaper in these regions so it isn`t as expensive to buy them all over again.

How do they not see that buying exactly the same product all over again is a good thing for their customer base?

Hard to tell from this article, but it even implies with the tool in Japan you still have to pay to transfer, not quite sure if that`s true or not.

I despise the lack of usb charging on these types of devices and forcing proprietary memory cards again (a shock when you compare to the price of microsd now) is unforgivable really.  Price cut soon for sure.
An opinion here..  Pretty much agree with every point.

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

Interesting... I had a glitchy Amazon promo code, and managed to get mine for erm, nothing, so won`t be disappointed if it`s not all it`s cracked up to be!

We already had the price cut surely?. Amazon and Play both offered the Vita, A game and an 8gb memory card for a couple of quid less than the RRP of the console on it`s own, that with the pre-order pack worth £10 is a great price for what the Vita can do. My son has been playing Rayman all day so i havent had a `proper` fiddle with it but it does look amazing. The screen is gorgeous and looks very similar to my Iphone retina and the touch controls on the menus seem very fluid and familiar.

I havent seen an psp game playing on it yet but theres some youtube videos showing comparisons. The upscaling of the Vita looks very impressive in them.

I`ll have a proper crack on with it tonight but i reckon it`s easily worth the £230 to get you started.

Also, anyone with a PS3 needs to buy Motorstorm RC. I bought it because the boy would get the vita version free but it`s a great game for sub £5. I was looking forward to it anyway but was expecting the price to be much higher.

Bryan

Do you mean the price cut last week (£10 or so - not sure.)?  Obviously time will tell if £230 is a good price.
Sales in a week`s time will be a good indicator......

The console RRP was £230, when bundles including games and memory cards starting appearing for pre-order at that price, I took that as the price drop. So £230 to get started rather than £290.

And an interesting statement that may come and bite them on the bum:
http://www.develop-online.net/news/39900/Vita-anti-piracy-tech-offers-long-term-protection

Quote:
"We needed to have something that would combat piracy from day one, and that`s why the cards that you can purchase for the games are in their own proprietary format."

He added that creating the new media format was completely necessary to make sure the system's titles were not pirated to the extent of the PSP, which, despite its popularity in Japan, suffered from problems with piracy.

"It`s something that we felt was completely necessary to make sure that people could not pirate these games," said Rohde.

"I mean, it`s a custom security solution on each one of these cartridges. That is something that we are confident will protect us from piracy for the long term."
