these awards always puzzle me.

wtf would you announce "the ultimate game of the year" at the end of october?

there`s still 2 months left!!! especially considering the likes of FIFA 10, Uncharted 2
and the soon to be released MW2 all fall within the "2009" spectrum.

I would assume that they will fall into the 2010 bracket and works in a similar way to the PFA Player of the Year awards in football (as an example) - they have to announce them sometime and therefore also need to vote on them early as well. Suspect they may be announced around this time to influence Christmas spending...

If every annual awards ceremony had to be held on the 31st December/1st January, we`d never know about 3/4 of them because the media would never be able to cope with reporting them, let alone giving any of them air time!

So they have to be spread around the year to avoid clashing. Simple as that.

But yes, it`s a known fact that anything elligible for an award that is released after the awards ceremony in the year that it is released stands a much lower chance of winning anything. Movie makers have been timing their releases very carefully for years because of it! ;)

Number one retailer..game?

Who decided that i wonder?

Give an award for the most over priced store in the uk, whos prices are £10 dearer than their own website and who will give you just about nothing for your second hand titles...you can bet that decision was decided by comittee!

No, evrything is decided by public vote. Over 1.2 million people voted, and somehow Game have won that award 3 times out of the last 4 years (the other time it was Amazon)

I voted Amazon, so I don`t know who is voting for Game, but it is legitimate.

Really? The quotes on the advertisements for the now released on the PSP are calling it the best GTA on any version :o

I was actually meaning to look up reviews to find out what was so good about it.
