No, I bought my bare arcade cabinet, didn`t want the hassle of doing the carpentry. :/

That`s pretty cool TJ, where you going to put it?
Garage is being coverted so it will go in there. I reckon i am going to program it into the CNC machine at work. If thats the case i may be running a few off to sell. Will just be the cut out shapes though.
This is the control pannel i have the plans for. Not going to have as many gadgets though. Just 4 sticks and about 26 buttons.

Oh yeah. Hadn`t noticed that. The plans are not like that though. I reckon they reflected the picture so it fitted the site better. Well spotted though. Have a gold star. ;)

RE: Ultimate Arcade II Cabinet
This is a great project, I wish I had the talent to do it.
A few things.
1. I noticed all these type cabinets are bulky and sometimes look a bit naff. Are you planning on modifying, to make one with a more modern look?
2. Also, everyone seems to mount a normal CRT screen inside the cabinet (heavy). Is there a reason for this or is it an option to mount a TFT inside?
3. Keep us all updated. I may even be interested in a flat pack. (Maybe you could sell them to Argos or MFI) :-)

depends, if your planning on using a jamma (sp) board & buying carts (expensive but collectibly satisfying) then your limited by the technology of it`s time, so probably a crt is the only thing you could use, but if (as i suspect) it`s just a pc running mame through a dedicated controller (& i hope your using a coin slot as well for authenticity ;) ) then you can use any monitor you want as long as it fits, but you`d be looking at, i guess, at least a 20" so a tft might be costly, also aesthetically you want no buttons/lights/branding etc on the front of the monitor so it looks like a "proper" arcade cabinet, but thats the good thing about making it yourself, you do it how you want it, i wish i had the time/room/patience to do one myself, imagine, mame shinobi/r-type/street fighter :D
i think i just came :(
no, realy
Ok, it should look like these.
However i dont think I am making it as wide. As Ogster said 20" is fine and i only have a 19" laying around. Going to use a VGA monitor cos i am lazy and they are much easier to set up.
