I know that is not ideal to play DVDs on a playstion 2, however, I am thinking of buying one and was just wondering if it can play RCE discs once you spin the region X disc. I would be really grateful for any info you could provide on this topic.

Yes it can. Also the RegionX will remove the green hue you get when connected with an RGB scart.

Does ther same apply if it is a copy ntsc dvd? I have been trying to play them on my ps2 but they play in green. I tried a special scart lead from Game which is supposed to remove the green screen but didn`t and Region x won`t work cos the console is chipped with the messiah chip and needs to be straight boot with the copy in it.

Er, says who? I`ve got a Messiah chipped PS2, and Region X works just fine on it.

I didn`t think the region x would work cos to play a copy dvd you need to switch off the machine with the copy dvd in it and then switch on while holding down the reset button.

Have u had the same problem I have and did you get a solution?

That only applies to copied *games*, not movie DVDs ;-)

It`s also un-necessary to switch off the machine - just tapping the Reset button once will work.

I can`t say I`ve had the same problem as you, but the Region X will probably sort it for you.

I`ve heard that region X does not work with new 3000 version PS2 any advice?
