RE: Should my blu ray player be resting on all four of its feet?
No - the rubber feet are there - I bought it brand new from Amazon - just got it two days ago - I think you are right Rob - I have decided to send it back and get a replacement.
Thanks
Kind Regards

Should my blu ray player be resting on all four of its feet?
I bought a Sony S7200 and while it seems to work perfectly - only the front right and back left legs make contact with any surface I place it on. The other two feet don't make any contact with any surface I place it on. Is this normal - should I bring it back and exchange it?
Kind Regards

RE: Should I buy the Epson TW 6100 or a completely different projector?
Hi Rob - 2 years on and perhaps you are interested in the setup I went for in the end:
Projector - Epson TW6100 - Nearly a year and a half on of using it and it still puts a smile on my face - it isn't loud - it projects onto a fixed 100" screen - no wrinkles - really impresses people when they visit but more importantly it really impresses me everytime I use it for games, films and watching sports events.
Instead of the Dali speaker package I went with the Dali 5 5.1 - I got a good deal at the time and a friend advised me that although the Dali 1 5.1 would have been ok in my room these would be better as they would never have to struggle in such a big space - he was right - the sound is perfect - in time I might invest in bipolars at the back like you suggested as my seating is very close to the back wall.
I went with a yamaha amp - I must be a fanboy but I just love the yamaha sound or perhaps after having my previous Yamaha amp for 10 years - I just like the Yamaha sound.
I would like to thank you Rob for all your help - you really helped me create a very good home theatre room.
Best Wishes
Dan
RE: Does anyone have a fixed projector screen?
Just in case anyone was wondering - I went with a fixed screen and have no regrets - I initially wanted a 120" screen but went with a 100" screen on the advice of a local home theatre installer and I have to say I am glad I didn't go any bigger.
The screen is held taught by heavy duty velcro - I have it up over a year now and it is still as taught as the day I put it up. Everyone is always amazed at the pic and sound quality - I have an Epson 6100 projector and Dali 5 surround sound.
I would definitely recommend fixed screen to anyone who has the space for it.
Is there any problem with adding a second ethernet switch box in another room of house?
Hi - My router is in a central location and it is connected to a 24 port switch.
The problem is that in my small office I only have one ethernet wall connection - I want to get a 5 port switch to hook up my pc and games consoles
Will adding a switch in the office slow down or disrupt my home network in any way?
I googled it and couldn't find the answer I needed and am hoping that someone here will be kind enough to let me know.
Thanks
RE: Am I using the right Plug for projector from Germany
Thanks guys - I checked out the watts using the method described here and a 3A plug will work - thanks again for all the help - greatly appreciated.
RE: Am I using the right Plug for projector from Germany
Brill - thanks - did Ii do any damage using my old projector lead?
Am I using the right Plug for projector from Germany
Hi my projector arrived this morning - got a deal on amazon.de - the plug in the box was European so I have been using my old projector (kettle flex style) power lead.
The German lead says 16A 250 V and my 3 pronged lead says 13A 250 V - is this okay to use?
Should I buy a German to EU plug connector?
should I stop using it until I get a eu plug connector?
I have been using it all day and am worried I might have damaged it.
any advice greatly appreciated

RE: Any suggestions on how to hide cables?
Thanks guys - I will check out cable trunking.
Any suggestions on how to hide cables?
Hi - I will have a projector set up and hope to have all my AV equipment on the sidewall towards the back of my room. This means there will be speaker cable and perhaps a hdmi cable if I sometimes use a tv instead of the projector for games.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to hide speaker cable etc...
Any help greatly appreciated.
Is my room too big for KEF Eggs - E305?
Hi my room dimensions are 18 foot length by 13.5 foot - it this size room too big for the KEF eggs. I will be using a yamaha RXV773 receiver.
Thanks
RE: Does anyone have a fixed projector screen?
Hi Rob - yes it is a once in a lifetime purchase and will have to do for the next 20 years but I have heard they are good.
I use a normal whiteboard at school all the time and the glare or shine is pretty bad but I don't have a light controlled room - if I were you I would try it out as you have nothing to lose.
RE: Does anyone have a fixed projector screen?
Hi Rob - by fixed I mean permanently attached to a frame on the wall - it means the screen is taught - it should be wrinkle free and remain that way - richer sounds sell one - I am thinking of getting this one -http://www.richersounds.com/product/projector-screens-accessories/sapphire/sfsc234/sapp-sfsc234
RE: Does anyone have a fixed projector screen?
Thanks guys I will measure it - what do you of a fixed screen - is it a good idea?
Does anyone have a fixed projector screen?
Hi - my room is 18 foot long and 13 foot 3 wide - I can't decide between a 100" or 120" inch screen. Does anyone have ant opinions on this?
Will a projector bought on amazon.de be the same as one bought on amazon.co.uk
Hi - I am looking at a projector that is 200 euro cheaper on amazon.de than amanzon.co.uk but I am wondering is there any drawbacks to buying it from the German site instead of the UK site. I am based in Ireland.
Will I be able to set the language to English?
Am I still covered by the same Amazon.co.uk warranty etc
Any help and advice greatly appreciated - thanks.
RE: Should I buy the Epson TW 6100 or a completely different projector?
Hi Rob -that sounds like a great system all right - I like the idea of bipolars as well. Thanks again for all your help.
RE: Should I buy the Epson TW 6100 or a completely different projector?
Hi Rob thanks for your very informative answers. My amp is a yamaha but since it has no hdmi I am looking forward to upgrading it - I use a 5.1 satellite speaker package with it - loved it in small apartment but I will have a bigger room in new house so -19 ft long and around 15 ft wide so I was thinking I should invest in bigger sized speakers - I was thinking of going with the Sony 1040 receiver and the Dali Zensor 1 5.1
What amp and speaker sys do you have - would you recommend it - thanks
RE: Should I buy the Epson TW 6100 or a completely different projector?
Thanks Rob - I really appreciate all your help - trust me as none of my mates have projectors but I love the cinema feel they provide - so if you don't mind I have just a few more questions
I will be ceiling mounting from day one and won't be moving it until I replace it or it needs a new bulb - whichever comes first. Does that mean that I don't need Lens shift?
How big is your screen? How far back is your projector from the screen?
What is it like with Standard definition DVD?
Any idea what it is like with standard definition TV?
When you say DLP projectors don't suffer from judder in fast action sequences does that mean that LCD projectors are more prone to it?
Any idea what it is like with video games like xbox and PS3/4?
I had a DLP projector before and never noticed the rainbow effect unless I purposely looked away from the screen and then back quickly. Can you notice it on your machine?
Unfortunatley all my surround kit although good 10 years ago is now completely out of date - do you go the seperates route and if so which receiver and speaker package would you recommend.
Thank you so much for all your help so far - its great to get some insights into this projector.

RE: Should I buy the Epson TW 6100 or a completely different projector?
Hi Rob - I have a few questions on the HD131Xe if you don't mind. Do you have it ceiling mounted? Is it noisy - picture and sound wise? Does it have lens shift? What is it like with fast action sequences - is there any judder?
Thanks
RE: Should I buy the Epson TW 6100 or a completely different projector?
Hi Rob - thanks for your reply - unfortunately I live in the Republic of Ireland so there is nowhere to test this projector out. Could you recommend a good Optima?
Should I buy the Epson TW 6100 or a completely different projector?
Hi guys - I have read the What Hi Fi review of the TW6100W and it is glowing to say the least. However I have a few questions I'm hoping some of you guys could help me with
1. Is the TW6100 without the "W" the exact same projector without the Wireless?
2. I will be ceiling mounting it so does it matter that it doesn't have lens shift? (The room is normal shape so if I mount it correctly I think I will be okay - am i wrong?)
3. I read a review that said the lens keeps shifting to focus and that makes it noticeably noisy - is this true?
4. Is there any major downfalls with this projector?
5. Is there a better projector out there between 1000-2000?
Any help gratefully appreciated as whichever projector I buy I will have to live with for the next 10 years.
RE: projector/screen. help and advice needed please..
Hi I have mine set up in the spare room - I have my projector on a glass dvd rack against one wall and I used to project it onto a magnolia wall. My mate told me that even the cheapest screen would be a huge agreement and he was right - got a 80" Acer for 80 euro including postage - Manual roll down. I am exactly like you in the sense I wanted to watch a few movies on the big screen now and again with a strict budget - 4 moths on and the screen is fine - I roll it up after up after each use. good luck with your setup - the guys here are the best on the net for advice -
RE: Laser on PS3 slim gone - sony refurbishment or buy a new super slim?
Its grand for the moment but I had the slim since launch so I`m thinking it might be best to add a fresh drive. where do you normally buy your drives - I don`t want to pay a fortune but I don`t want one that is likely to fail either. Thanks

Will my hard drive from my 120gb slim fit in the super slim? Do I need to buy a caddy? Googled it and can`t find a direct answer.

Hi - thanks for the idea - I would never have thought of buying a 12gb cheap and upgrading hard drive.
Any idea where I could get one for the 140 price you mentioned above?

Laser on PS3 slim gone - sony refurbishment or buy a new super slim?
My slim is the 120gb model - I had a technician look at it and he says it needs a new laser - costing 100 euro - I`m in Ireland. Rang Sony and they will give me a refurbished on for 120 euro. Anyone had a refurb from Sony? What condition are they in - do they last? Should I just get the new Super Slim?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Problem using original snes controller with mac using snes9x
Hi - I bought a usb connector for my original snes controllers to use with Snes9x on my 2010 mac mini. It works perfectly with Zsnes emulator but that emulator crashes when you try and put it into full screen. However, I can`t configure the direction pad properly in the configure controller setting. It allows me to map all the buttons correctly but when I press up on the direction pad it maps it to both up and down. Similarly when I press left on the joypad it maps it to both left and right. When I start Streetfighter 2 my character is in a default crouched postition and I can only move him in one direction.
I have tried 3 different snes controllers and the fact it works perfectly with zsnes tells me the controller isn`t the issue. I have googled it and can`t find a solution.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.
Best wishes
