Mulholland Drive ..... Yeah and ...... (possible spoilers for those who haven`t seen it yet)

I`m sorry i must be thick or something but i just watched MD and followed it through without even going to the bog, and still didn`t understand it.

I was expecting things to become clear at the end of the film but the ending just left me really disappointed and unsatisfied.

So did the brunette regain her memory? What was all that "This is the girl" stuff? what is the signifiacance of the burnt woman? What about the blue key and box? Where the two old codgers ghosts at the end?

Is this David Lynch film meant to make any sense or simply a mind f**k movie?

If you love this movie (like I do), try Lost Highway. Much more bizarre than MD :)

Thanks for that link Karlveer, I understand the movie a lot more now,
I understand that it was Dianes fantasy and that the things such as the cowboy and the blue box etc are there to be interpreted by ourselves.
I don`t think i`ll bother with Lost Highway, it`ll do my head in even more :/

I actually liked Mulholland Drive, but maybe it`s coz I was in the mood for it - I remember seeing Lost Highway years ago and thinking WTF?? Does it actually have a story, like Mulholland Drive?

Speaking of confusing films try Memento (Guy Pierce, Carrie-Ann Moss) - now there`s a confusing film and no mistake - you have to be a bit backward to understand it if you ask me. By the time it finished I`d forgotten how it started and had to watch the whole thing again scene by scene ;)

!!! :D

I love that film! It`s only confusing up until Trinity grabs Mike from Neighbours for the "second" time in the diner, then I "got" it and loved how the plot resolved.
Brilliant storytelling and concept.

On the DVD you can watch it in chronological order for you "not" backward people! :D

Loved Memento but not Mulholland Drive. Although there was a scene I seem to remember thinking was quite good... ;)

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

Yeah, had to watch that scene several times to be sure I`d understood it properly ;)

I loved Lost Highway, but not Mulholland drive, thought it was a bit too wierd and prententious for the sake of it, but then most of his films are ;) my gf though can`t understand how I can like LH but not MD, she likes both!

I also enjoyed Memento.

I like all three of them - most of the best films are ones which require you to engage your brain before it begins rather than leaving it at home as with so many modern films.

Lynch`s films are open to numerous interpretations and the internet is full of `walkthroughs` - just use Google (or another search engine), have a read and then rewatch the film. I have and enjoyed the films a lot more second time round.
