DVDs & Films Forum
Anyone else noticed that the sound on Hitchhikers guide is really poor quality and sometimes its difficult to hear dialog. When I saw it at the cinema the sound was poor but I thought it was the cinema rather than the film.
Tried it on different sound systems this week and the sound was poor on all of them.
I hope not cos I was going to pick this up today.
Can anyone confirm this as we need summat to watch for after we`ve beat the Ozzies ;)

Sounded fine to me last night.
I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.
it was fine when i watched mine a couple of months back... but the man who kept getting up and walking around annoyed the c..p out of me!

RE: Hitchhikers Guide Sound
Sound on the DVD seemed fine when I watched it on Friday.
Pity I can`t say the same about the film! :¦
Wish I`d spent the time re-watching the first 3 episodes of the TV series instead.
Big fan of the other incarnations of HHGTTG, but thought the film was just sh*te!

My DVD`s
I wasn`t as disapointed by it as I expected to be, given that DNA had done a fair amount of work on the script adapting the story (again) for a different medium & possibly commercial pressure (He really wanted to get HHG on film, as it had been on every other form of media).
Allegedly - The main reason the books & the TV series diverged after "Milliways" from the radio was the fact that John Lloyd helped script the final parts (The Hagunenons?) to get over one of DNA writers blocks\procastination\fear of deadlines, when it came to the books etc, DNA didnt want JL getting any royalties for his input from the radio series.

John lloyd co-wrote the last two episodes after DNA got a job as the Script Editor fro Dr Who. When it came to writing the book DNA decided to ditch the Hagananananuanans(spell?) cos he was told he shouldnt have a co-author. Lloyd and DNA teamed up for the Meaning Of Liff and the Further Meaning Of Liff.
I was mega disappinted at the cinema with the film. But have to say enjoyed the DVD after buying it this week much more. The extras are quite good and you`re able to pick up things missed in the flicks( for heavens sake, this is the 21st century. You`d have thought rewind buttons would be fitted in every cinema by now ;) )
Sounded great on 5.1 DTS at home btw
