Not talking about the bland CGI explanation featurettes, what`s the DVD extra you`ve found the most entertaining and informative?

For me, it`s got to be Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail Locations. It`s amazing what you can do with camera angles...

I don`t know, but "Mission: Improbable" on the M:I-2 DeeVeeDee takes a good beating.

If you ignore the Lord of the Rings extended DVDs as a special case.

It would have to be director Michael Apted`s Directors commentry on `The World Is Not Enough`, the most interesting one I have heard.

Guillermo del Toros "Sperm Removal" had me in stitches in the Blade 2 extras.

They may not still be "The Best" (anymore, at least), but, for me Blade (the original) was the first DVD to make proper full use of the format. Cool interactive menus, deleted scenes, interviews. I was blown away when I first saw it and its a testament that it still holds up today.

Same with the original Matrix. That was a great DVD package too, with the Red Pill and White Rabbit extras.

Now, to be honest, I will give the extras a cursory look though, If the film isnt an acknoweledged `Classic`, as they are all much of a muchness.

Obviously, the LOTR trilogy is the exception to every rule. I dont know how they managed to put in nearly a days worth of extras and still keep them all interesting. They are the only extras (all 3 films) that I have watched all the way through with some dedication.

And they are one of of the few sets of extras that not only improve upon the film after watching but just absolutely stagger you with what an undertaking it was.

The recreation of the ear-cutting scene with dolls on the Reservoir Dogs SE stands out for me.

I`ve not come across a multi-angle DVD yet - I think Fight Club has it on the extras disc.

The most useful feature I have seen have been the reference/trivia tracks on Spaced and Shaun of the Dead. I think the Mary Poppins SE has one too. Very interesting.

As a young lad, I came to the UK from living in the USA and stayed for about 4 weeks in some god forsaken place in Scotland...very remore, very rural. I happened upon the very `castle` that was used by the Python Gang who were filming that self-same movie at that time. We stood around and watched a few bits...maybe I`m on the extras?! (Small Jimmy Osmond look-alike with pudding bowl hair-cut and flared red jeans?!) :D

Episode 5 of "Earthshock" - Adric lives (for about 3 more minutes) before being eaten by a T-Rex. :D



I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

I know this is about what is your Favourite extra, but I have done that, so I`ll also say what I hate on DVDs: Blo&dy `Easter Eggs`. You may have just paid 60 quid and they expect you to go on a treasure hunt to find an extra item, who ever thought that idea up should be SHOT.

Robert Rodriguez` "10 MINUTE F***ING SCHOOL" on The Once Upon a Time in Mexico disc! Who needs film school when you can learn it all from his DVDs! The mid boggles at the thoughts of how stupendous the SIN CITY disc will be. Dam, that trailer seriously rocks.
