DOCTOR WHO - New Series anticipation thread...
The new Star Wars has got one - so I think the new Dr Who series deserves a thread. It`s been officially annouced that the air date is Saturday 26th March at 7.00 PM (can`t wait!!!).
Lets here some thoughts and opinions...

And don`t forget the extras to be broadcast immediately after the show on BBC3.
Hopefully it`ll be as good as the Spooks extras, rather than just a talking shop for fans.
In one of the TV Sci Fi mags it gives a little info on the eps and when we get to see the, yep, Daleks!
RE: DOCTOR WHO - New Series anticipation thread...
I saw the first episode a few days ago and really enjoyed it. I never thought I see the day Doctor Who was done with a propper budget and by professionals who have as much fondness as the fans. The show has not been "sexed up", at least going by the first episode, and is obviously aimed at a wide audience, with a simple tale involving the Autons as a vehicle to introduce the new cast. Christopher Ecelson is even better than you imagine and Billie Piper burries any ghosts of Bonnie Langford. Really looking forward to see how the show builds from here! Battestar Galactica AND Doctor Who back on TV...who`d of thunk it!
One thing I noticed in the credits is that Ecelson is listed as "Doctor Who" and not "the Doctor".

I thought we had see the last of that role credit. :(

Just bumping this up before it disappears off the bottom of the page.
One week to go heh,heh. :D :D :D
And I still don`t like the idea of a Northen Doctor Who. he`s not from Earth is he, so he shoud have NO accent. Did`nt like the dig by RTD about the old docs being southern posh!

I have copyrighted the phrase Tyne Lord ;)
Seen it a couple of times now & the plot holes do seem to be tighter & better than from my first viewing, still think its a little too rushed with character development but its early days.
Exceptions & pet hates so far (there will be more)......
SPOILER:
Interior side of the doors & door frame being a match for the exterior door, bulbs for the illuminated sig & the telephone mounted on the inside of the door. All very Doctor Who & The Daleks feature film. :(
Plastic Mickey (as opposed to Metal Mickey) - To obviously fake, if I was Rose I would hope that I would notice that my bf now resembled an escapee from Legoland.
If the Nestene conciousness can control\inhabit plastic, how did they manufacture the "hand" guns in all the shop dummies, the original Autons were created in plastics factories. :B

RE: DOCTOR WHO - New Series anticipation thread...
About the accent: The Doctor has spent a LOT of time on earth in England and always has an english accent - so I don`t mind him having a northern accent. He`s bound to pick up some sort of accent after one of his regenerations.
I can`t wait to see the first episode - I purposefully haven`t downloaded it/watched it on the internet - I`ve waited 9 years for new Doctor Who, so another few weeks isn`t going to kill me! (I`d rather see it "properly" on TV for the first time). :D
Does anyone know if Paul McGann`s Doctor is seen or mentioned at all? (I haven`t read many spoilers). Also, I read a negative review of the first episode (by an American - but they never "got it" did they... ;) ) - he said it was shot on video and all looked very cheap!? The clips that I`ve seen have always been on film and production values look very high!

RE: DOCTOR WHO - New Series anticipation thread...
According to the Restoration Team bods (who should know), it`s shot on (pro) digital video and "filmised". :B
And I`m reserving judgement until I actually see the transmission.

GOOD!
About the accent, its not being anti-northern or the like. It is just giving him one makes him seem local. Where as a sort of bbc English has been, or seemed to have been used so many times, it is kind of unoffical alien for me in movies.
of course the fact I`m a southern with no accent has nothing to do with it at all ;)
