I dont have a DVD burner. Therefore, if I were to download an AVI file, cuold I copy this to a CD-R and play in in my DVD player? If so, then would I need any extra software to let me do this?

Yes. You need to convert it to a Video CD MPEG file using something like TMPGEnc.
My new Toshiba SD-340 DVD player says it plays DivX, and in the manual shows someone navigating a screen with a load of .avi files on it...beinga total dunce when it comes to this sort of thing, I don`t know how it works.....can I just caopy the `raw` .avi files to a Cd and play them, or di I still need to convert them??
Thanks a lot
Vince
You can just burn and play. I can do the same with my new Pioneer DV575.
How do you get the Pioneer 575 (I have one too) to play the .AVI files?
Cheers
Pete
Burn them to disc (CD or DVD + OR -), I use Nero to burn the files. Pop the disc in the player and press play and it will start with the first file or press menu and it will come up with a list files on the disc and you can select the one you want. Picture quality is amazing. Hope that helps. :D
