Woolies have the special edition DTS for £3.99 but i already have the 5.1 version at home..do you think it would be worth getting the special edition for the DTS....just the 5.1 almost tears down my living room on the opening scene so i would have thought the DTS version would be awsome...anyone got it?

What a bargain. Buy it, you will not be disapointed. The sound quality in DTS is AWESOME! :)

Can`t imagine there`ll be any difference, but for £4 you can`t go wrong.

Are you sure they have it for £3.99? I went into the Poole branch and couldn`t find it, all I could see was the £8.99 original version. I ended up buying The Bourne Identity remake for £8.99, using my voucher from Woolies as a result of the Quadrilogy fiasco. :-D

This is quite a funny subject for me. I bought myself a new DVD player (Denon 2800mkII) and had problems with the original R2 Dolby edition. The bottom half of the picture kept on breaking up and it went blocky all the time. This gave me a reason to buy the new DTS edition as I was hoping it would solve the problem.

I paid £19.99 for it at HMV about 6 weeks ago! The new disc did solve the problem, it plays perfectly now with stunning DTS sound. The funny thing is I saw it for £7.99 in Virgin last Monday! The DTS track is louder and the action to the rears seems more dynamic, your sub will also get some serious usage too. The Dolby version is still very good but it lacks the muscle of the DTS version. It also comes in a nice fold out case.

My opinion......Buy it!!

Woolies website has it at £15.99. :/
My local store is such a mess you can`t find anything yourself and the staff are not all the brightest bulbs in the chandelier...
If you can find it at £4 it`s a great buy.

My opinion of this is that if you already have the DD version, why pay £4 more just to get the DTS version.

I`m getting rather tired of reading "the DTS was more dynamic" or "the bass is tighter" in reviews and it annoys me. Fair enough, if the DTS track is actually better then fair enough, but most of the time there is no difference at all to the human ear.

The only reasons I can think of are that:

1. A lot of people haven`t set-up their sound system correctly (I used an SPL meter just to be sure).

2. DTS is marketed to be "better", so a lot of people just think it is.

£4 is a bargain, but only if you don`t already own it.

Just my opinion ;)

Westy and Chewie will soon dismember all of the DTS executives and laugh manically as DD becomes the only DVD sound system!

I agree Chewie..except the DTS in SPR is supposedly one of the few where the mix is actually better than the DD equivalent..
