Twin Peaks...

Will K (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 6th January 2004, 17:30

I`m a tad confused about this, am I right in saying there was a film, then a TV series? Or the other way round? Are they any good (the only David Lynch film I`ve seen so far is Mulholland Dr. and I thought it was great)? I know series 1 of the TV show was released on DVD ( is this in any of the sales?), what about series 2? How many series are there?

TV series came first in 1990(?) Pilot, then rest of the series.
Second season followed next year, getting weirder by the minute.
Series ended (prematurely) and then David Lynch made Fire Walk With Me, a prequel for the cinema.
First series out on dvd, but apparently hasn`t sold well enough for the company to bring out the second.
E&OE
Lynch is a top director when on form.

Twin Peaks is class......

The Series 1 box set is available for £17.99 at play.com, R2, and includes the Pilot episode as well. (as mentioned in the bargain buckets forum, a couple of weeks ago)

It has Heather Graham in it as an ex-Nun, need i say more.

Admittedly very wierd, but good stuff.

I hope they bring out the Series 2 or it defeats the object of wanting to watch the whole Twin Peaks saga.

Well, I`ve ordered Fire Walk With Me, and plan to get series 1 soon, but I can`t order from Play as they don`t take VISA Electron >:( . Anyway, should I watch the whole of series 1 before I watch Fire Walk With Me?

Unfortunately the DVD of Fire Walk With Me is a bit rubbish (well I thought it was):-

And if my memory is right it seems that series 2 of the TV show is not going to get a DVD release (in region 1 at least), as they`ve pulled the plug due to poor sales of the first series. There may be European releases though, it`s one to keep an eye on.

Fire Walk with me as mentioned before is a prequel to the series and does give away the plot.

The whole point behind the series was who killed Laura Palmer, and that builds up throughout the series. But with FWWM it tells the story leading up to the murder and gives the story away.

Suggest you watch it series then movie.

For example, if you watch star wars episode 1, 2, and then 3 (when it comes out) then you will know that Anakin is Darth Vadar and Lukes father etc etc. So when watching episode 6 it is no big shock when he reveals who he is. It is better to watch them in the order they were made.

Rich, I bought Fire Walk With Me from DVDSoon.com R1 obviously, I don`t know if the picture is any better but it has a 5.1 track so I guess they might have done something with the picture too.
I couldn`t find series 1 at either of the HMV`s or the Virgin I went to today, is it cheap anywhere else?

Will, don`t think you`ll find the series elsewhere for less than £30 at best at the moment.
(Could try dvdpricecheck.co.uk.)
And might be worth mentioning that if you thought about importing a Region 1 series set, it doesn`t have the pilot episode as there was some problem about the rights.
Damn, you`ve made me want to get the set now...

Thanks, Steve. I had checked DVDpricecheck and the cheapest after Play is DVD.co.uk at just over £30. I had already found out that the R1 boxset doesn`t have the pilot, I think it`s available on it`s own anyway.
