Name that film?

dvd_vicar (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 5th July 2003, 16:41

My dad was asking me regarding a film about a moonshine runner - may have contained good music/car chases - he thought it was called "Sharkey`s Machine". On trying to find it on the net, it appears that he has the title wrong. "Sharkey`s Machine" doesn`t appear to be about moonshiners, can anyone confirm?
Thanks,
Nick

Could be Smokey and the Bandit which also stars Burt Reynolds, they have to get a truck full of beer over state lines in a certain time and includes a truck and transam. Good film an old favourite of mine.

Could be - but I think it was less of a "mainstream" film. Dont suppose you know if this will be released in a widescreen version?

Hi,

Try White Lightning 1973, starring Burt Reynolds, £9.99 - Region1, PlayUSA (Play.com).

Followed by Gator also starring Burt,
hope this helps.

Could be the Moonshine War for that matter, Alan Alda as the driver, Patrick Mcgoohan as Wile E er I mean the revenue man and based on an Elmore Leonard book. Afterall you didn`t say it starred Burt Reynolds just that the name your father thought of was a Burt film.

OK dvd_vicar, So what was the name of the film your dad thought had good music/car chases?

put us out of our misery! my moneys still on Burt.

Although there`s still Thunder road, starring Bob Mitchum, good film, but not great music.
