RE: Sendit
They are thehut. They also own Zavvi and do the online media retail for a number of major brands.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hut_Group
3 days means at least 3 days.
RE: If you lose your windows registration key, can you find the number on the computer?
I assume you intend to do a reinstall with that key.
As it`s probably a manufacturer specific OEM key it may or may not work with another cd.
Those cds should come with a sticker saying if you lose it it will cost you £100 to replace(
not that anyone will take any notice)
RE: GHOST IN THE SHELL: STAND ALONE COMPLEX????
you can pick up the first 4 for 5.99 from hmv. the 5th for 7.99 and 6th for 8.99 which with the 7th and tin reduces the cost to £60 or start collecting the US special editions which come with various extras but cost about £24 each !! (vol. 5 comes with "This limited edition comes with a collectible tin case, 2 discs (one with Dolby sound and one with DTS), and three limited edition figures: Togusa, the Major, and a tachikoma.")
RE: broadband connections to pc
not that you were dialling up anyway as the broadband connection was always there and all you were doing was logging into the servers
RE: Help with ripping music from cd`s
assuming you`re just using windows media player to rip then sounds like a hardware problem
RE: The Fountain (spoilers ahead now probably!)
its a romantic tragedy of sorts in a fantasy/sci fi context so not to everyone`s taste
RE: Windows Explorer crashes when I select an AVI file
check in folder types in control panel and see what application avi files are set to open with.
Try the thread here http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/3588p1.html
RE: Is there any way to make your own DVD menus?
DVDstyler perhaps
RE: Pirates of the Carribean Vs. Star Wars trilogy
Star wars in theory has a maximum number of 9 stories and i assume the basic story for each one was mapped out during the first trilogy and expanded at a later date whereas Pirates of the Carribean is a franchise that will continue until Depp says no more and/or the films stop making enough money to justify their budgets hence the second film being a filler to setup a third
RE: Laptop keeps re-booting,not loading windows.
how about downloading that ultimate boot cd and use it to run a check on the harddrive
RE: Dowloaded Concert - Licence Expiry Query
obviously you have downloaded a protected media file which had a time limited operation. probably like the csi downloads from channel 5. You`ll have to find another source of pirated media where they have cracked the protection
RE: GRAPHICS CARDS
probably the ati radeon 9200 as its the newest though to be honest they are all fairly old and low powered so probably the right answer would be the one that`s going to last the longest without dying
RE: FREEVIEW ON A P.C??
put your postcode into here and if the transmitter listed is more than about 5 miles away start thinking in terms of plugging it into a roof aerial.
The only grounds for wanting to receive analogue signals that i can see is if you want to watch tv and play a game at the same time (only windowed games not full screen) which i do when playing an mmorpg. Digital receivers receive an entire frequencies worth of programmes and its upto the pc to extract the relevant programme and sound whereas with analogue the sound can be fed straight from the card to the soundcard and there`s only the data for a single programme so the digital receiver software takes a lot more processor power

RE: Firefox 2.0.0.1 update and incompatible Google toolbar - help please
what version of windows do you have ?
RE: Ghost Rider: a stinker in the making?
Angry was Ironbar who was last seen as an arm making one last defiant one fingered gesture from the wreckage of his vehicle in the final chase seen of Mad Max 3.
He was a lot angrier when i saw him in Rose tattoo when they supported Rainbow on the difficult to cure tour but he was a lot younger too. Think Axl Rose considers them an influence and covered one of their songs.
Not that that makes him a good actor though
RE: Ctrl + Alt + Del - The menu options have gone!
double click on the blank area next to the end task buttons to go between single and multi tabs. This can be done while in any of the windows
RE: Idiots guide to fitting 2 hard drives to 1 p.c please
consider buying a router and setting up a network instead as in the event that you split you won`t have to cut the pc in two with a hacksaw :D If you think you`ll be togther forever consider the additional stress caused by arguments over who gets to use the pc
If you`re currently on broadband and not cable then make it an adsl router.

RE: 7dayshop.com
a bit careless with sourcing their stock as they managed to sell pirated copies of nero 7 premium to some of their customers due to not checking them first
RE: How can I email Play?
according to their terms and conditions page smret[at]moc.yalp except my mother tried that and it bounced it as being a send only (this after it processed an order so quickly through the first stage that the cancel button had vanished). There`s also a number listed 0845 800 1020 but they seem like a number of sites to be trying to discourage actual communications.
RE: Monitor driver updates
thats an icc profile and all it does is define the characteristics of the colours on your monitor (see here ).
There are no actual drivers for a monitor since its the graphics card that drives it and the characteristics of your monitor shouldn`t need updating.
Your problem is with the graphics drivers and the monitor more likely
RE: Are Movietyme Always Rubbish?
try using their forum to contact them as emails and phone calls never used to get a response. Though people still seem to use them they don`t get as many comments about them on forums as they used to
RE: How can you search for a Router on a laptop?
or put another way did you go through any process of setting up security via a setup cd supplied with the router or did someone else do it for you.
I assume that there is an icon in the system tray on the laptop indicating presence or not of a network connection which will say something like no available wireless networks detected if you hover the mouse pointer above it (there is as default on a friends dell laptop.
RE: USB Installing Probs
howabout something like this which will give you 4 usb 2.0 ports instead of just usb 1.1 and includes 2 internal sockets one of which is a standard usb socket which will take your front panel lead and 1 connector like the ones already on your motherboard.
RE: USB Installing Probs
the manual doesn`t say anything so its usb 1.1.
Still think returning it and getting a proper panel would be the preferable solution
RE: USB Installing Probs
return it to pcworld claiming not fit for purpose due to having internal cables that require external connection and buy a proper unit . Its listed on amazon with 2 reviews both saying it requires an external usb socket and one sensibly pointing out this is rubbish. Dabs list it as discontinued.
If you buy one with the right cables then you should have no problems. Plug and play is not always a lie but it helps to buy properly designed units which this is not.

RE: Spam question
mailwasher better be capable of spotting spoofed email addresses and refusing to bounce or i may have to come round your house with a baseball bat for bouncing emails to folks who didn`t send you them in the first place.
Attempting to "parcel bomb" spammers when you don`t even know how to filter them out would be optimistic especially as most spam is sent on spoofed email addresses from zombie networks
RE: USB Installing Probs
you do have 2 usb headers on the board
go to http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
and type in a7n266-vm into the which model box top left then select and download the manual.
you have 2 usb ports on the port block. 1 pair of ports on a backplate plugged into one of the usb headers on the board (marked as USB23 and USB45 on the motherboard next to each other with one pin missing from the 10).
If your usb front panel has a connector with pins rather than a socket the oops you are stuffed. If its a socket with 8 pins then well you can chance it but if you get it the wrong way round you will be connecting ground to power or vice versa. Note that for 4 usb ports you will need to disconnect the back panel lead as each socket only provides 2 usb port connectors unless the front panel is a usb hub in itself.
If you want to keep the two on the back and the front panel is not a hub then tough as you will then have to buy an extra usb port card to replace them.
Upgrading a pc without knowing what you`re doing is never going to be easy as you need to have the motherboard manual and other details to check whether it has the necessary sockets and can support the item you wish to attach

RE: The Number 23 - Jim Carrey
they probably read Robert Anton Wilsons Illuminati trilogy where 23 is a cosmic number that turns up everywhere be it as 23 or by summing various numbers up. Its also a holy number in Discordianism which turns up in the illuminati books.
If you read the dark tower books by stephen king he rips this off by having 19 a significant number.
RE: EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE DO I NEED TO CHANGE FORMATS ON MY P.C.........
fat32 won`t format a partition larger than 32GB ?!!!!! Er think not. That`s only when installing XP due to the limitations of the setup tool and I assume that as its an external drive he won`t be doing that.
XP has the facility to convert a FAT32 drive to NTFS without destroying the contents but its preferable to do a complete format as its recommended to format NTFS with 4kb bloks apparently and conversion is liable to leave you with 256 byte blocks instead.
RE: SPAM is driving me mad! how do I stop it?????
one of the considerations when selecting an isp should be do they provide spam filtering and antivirus scanning of email. Both orange and virgin with whom i have email addresses provide that which filters out most of the spam though as i was getting 3000 mostly bounced spoofed address spam a day (death to those who bounce without checking for spoofing) there would still have been about 100 getting through on orange if i didn`t specify the full email address when logging in. Currently my spam load has dropped to about 500 per day in the junk folder accessible via the webmail interface
