I got this on DVD today, and it`s really good. I know a lot of people just download each short film, but I have a 56k modem, and wanted them on better quality anyway.
Some may see it as a shameless cash-in, but I enjoyed it ;-)

I have a copy, though did not purchase it as such. I think that the whole DVD is quite hit and miss. The "Final Flight..." of course being the best alongside the Renassaince(?) two parter. The rest aren`t too hot though - apart from odd moments, and so I felt my interest was waning towards the end. If they`d all been to the same quality as the three that I mentioned, it`d have been a priotiy purchase. I think the problem with the others comes down to poor stories and some shoddy animation at times. Yes I know thats the style they were going from and it does give each story a different flavour, but they seem to pale in comparison to "Final Flight..".

Ive pre-ordered mine from EZYDVD out on the 3rd june Im getting the r4 version because I hate snapper cases
My brain hurts
Ben,
I see what you mean, as "Final Flight" does seem like a true companion to the movies, where the others feel more detatched. But I like them. Matriculation is a bit iffy, but may prove a plot point in the next movie (reprogramming machines?).
Also, Egg, I know what you mean about Snapper cases, but I got a voucher, so it only cost £5 ;-)

RE: Who bought The Animatrix?
I`ll buy it....when it comes out........on June 2nd.
I downloaded a few and "A Detective Story" is my favourite so far. Great episode.
"The Second Renaissance" is also good, though the machines look like crap and sort of spoil the whole backstory from me a bit. Was the bit when the two robots walk into the UN hand in hand supposed to be funny?
Anyway watching these things on my PC would not do justice. I must watch them in 2.35:1 and 5.1 glory. Plus the extra features look good.
Ok, you people! Sit tight, hold the fort and keep the home fires burning. And if we`re not back by dawn... call the president.

Yes, you won`t be disappointed. The soundtracks are really great, and even when the title comes up at the begining, there is a nice rumble from the sub woofer. They also must be direct digital transfers (after the cell drawings were scanned in), because the picture is stunning, especially on "Final Flight".
I can see myself watching these quite a few times. Plus, the music they use on the menus is great.

And it is a snip at £11.99 delivered: http://www.playserver2.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=115203 - I will not doubt get this soon.

RE: Who bought The Animatrix?
is "the kid" the same kid as is in reloaded ?
I AM NOT A LEMON, I AM A CABBAGE.
nah, too old. The original kid is only about 15 now.
I`d have to say 2nd rennaisance is the best of the bunch by far. As for final flight, it`s pure eyecandy, as I`ve said before. An ass is an ass, but a CGI ass is unfomfortable to watch in a crowded cinema...
