Frequent the IMDB as "directorscut". Change name to avoid confusion for those guys.
When reviewing a film for Audio/Visual I take into consider the age, budget, film stock and previous version of the film I have seen.
For example I gave both The Godfather and Men In Black II an 8. MIIB has the better picture. But it isn`t as good as other transfers from films of the same year. While The Godfather has a very good print from the year 1972, but isn`t really acceptable for a 2002 film.
When reviewing extras, I look at quality not quanity. One interesting extra is going to get a better mark than 5 boring PR extras.
Feel free to offer me feedback. It`s the only way I know how well I`m doing.

RE: SelectDvds
I`m quite surprised by the negative comments here... I`ve ordered four DVDs from them so far and ALL have arrived... indeed they arrive a darn sight quicker than more "reputable" retailers like CD-WOW or Play.
RE: Top 5 Unintelligent films
EVIL DEAD! EVIL DEAD? Curses to you. That film is fit for only the finest of cinema aesthetes.

Just give me the original and best.

Remakes do not screw around with the originals. If you see the remake of DOTD, you can rewatch the original and see nothing has been changed with THAT film.
RE: matrix question (got a little confused)
Okay, children. The reason why The Architect uses words with more than two syllables (they DO exist. Yes, it was a shock for me to) is because they have only one meaning. There can be no misinterpretation of what he says. It's perfect "robot speech".
RE: Alien 3
Nope, it will contain a 139 minute edition not 170 mins.
Yes, Because...
The film was made on a budget of $18million (and, according to Bay, he only had $10million to make the film) in 1995. It isn`t going to have the most dynamic soundmix ever.
RE: Indiana Jones DVD box set review
You`re off your f-ing rocker if you think the E.T. extras were bad.
RE: Alien (no `s`) Special Edition
The BBFC have rated the Alien 3:Special Edition and it`s 138 minutes.
RE: Is anyone NOT BUYING the Indiana Jones Dvd Boxset?
You know, Spielberg has stated that the cut version of Temple of Doom is his prefered version?
RE: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
I found LXG to be a rather rousing and enjoyable film. The heroes are all likable and are well cast. The action scenes are very good, though edited too hastily. For a 72 year old, Connery can still kick major ass. Some of the effects work were awful, but this is a minor blotch on what was a very entertaining experience.
The characters are excellent. The Invisible Man is a mischievous delight, Mina Parker is note perfect, Dr Jekyll nicely portrays his inner conflict with his alter ego. Captain Nemo- How shall I put this intelligently. He's KICK ASS. A butt kicker and an expert swords man. Possibly the coolest character. Tom Sawyer was added for appeal for Americans, but nevertheless is a good and entertaining character. And Connery? He plays Connery. Simple as that.
Not at all bad. Worth a watch

RE: Sound on T2
Personally I find the sound on the WHOLE of T2 to be overrated. I keep hearing about how it`s demo material, it isn`t. It`s dated. Nothing on it can compared to today`s mixes. Surrounds are not aggressive, no REALLY strong bass.
Personally I find the picture quality to be overrated too, and the film and the extras. Hell the T2: UE is OVERRATED!!! :o

The last Temple of Doom to be certed was the video in 1992. None of the films have been recerted recently, but I expect them to be in the next few weeks.

Indiana Jones News
Forgive me if this has been already posted. I`ve been away on holiday so I haven`t kept up. But there is nothing about this on the front page so..
The BBFC has rated a few more extras for the DVD.
MAKING OF INDIANA JONES TRILOGY - PART 1: RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK 50m 47s
MAKING OF THE INDIANA JONES TRILOGY - PART 3 - LAST CRUSADE 35m 0s
MAKING OF THE INDIANA JONES TRILOGY - PART 2 - TEMPLE OF DOOM 41m 6s
THE STUNTS OF INDIANA JONES 10m 52s
THE LIGHT AND MAGIC OF INDIANA JONES 12m 22s
THE MUSIC OF INDIANA JONES 12m 24s
Well it looks fairly good so far. And a hell of a lot better than the Back To The Future DVD.

RE: Help needed - DVD wishlist advice
I have reviewed:
Hannibal
Hollow Man
Godfather Trilogy, The
Spider-Man
And I`d recommend these that I haven`t:
Blade I&2 (II has great DVD extras, but I think the first is the better film)
Castaway
Futurama
Family Guy
Signs
Scream Trilogy Boxset
I`d wait for the special edition of Reservoir Dogs and Goodfellas.
I haven`t seen the other DVDs.

RE: American Psycho *SPOILER ALERT*
Well the boat incident obviously happened and so did the deaths. Kint was surely found on the boat otherwise how did the cops connect him? The line-up scene also happened and so did the robberies that happened during the film.
On the commentary I believe Singer says for every truth there is a lie or something.
Things that the cops would have known about (as above) obviously happened and Kint distorted the truth about other stuff to fill in the gaps.

RE: The Definitive Evil Dead Trilogy Collection (R2) - 28th July 2003!
Oh, well. I own NO Evil Dead DVD. So maybe that`s why I`m excited by this release.
And if the AOD DVD doesn`t contain the theatrical ending, my friend has that so I can get it off him whenever I want.
On the subject of box set certifications. The "Rocky Anthology" has different ratings for I and V.
Even the bonus disc of "Armageddon" has a different rating. So it seems all discs must be rated accordingly and the highest rated will be the one on the box.
According to Trivia on IMDB. "Army of Darkness" originally got a NC-17. I find that very hard to believe. If not for that eruption of blood, it could have very well have been a PG-13. Perhaps this has something to do with it.

RE: The Definitive Evil Dead Trilogy Collection (R2) - 28th July 2003!
1.) The first Disc has a new featurette.
2.) AOD is in 1.85:1. On the R2 Director`s cut, it was 1.66:1. There has been a change there. And from what IMDB says, 1.85:1 is its intended aspect ratio.
3.) ALL discs in the set are rated 18`s (http://www.dvdfile.com/interactive/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33029) AOD is 15`s. So there must be some changes made to higher the rating.

RE: Can I get the original Star Wars trilogy with anamorphic widescreen and DD 5.1 ??
The offical "Star Wars" release will NOT have a DTS because Lucas dislikes it. That`s why Indiana Jones, despite a Spielberg film (one of the people to push DTS) only has a DD5.1 track.

RE: The Definitive Evil Dead Trilogy Collection (R2) - 28th July 2003!
The boxset does have the theatrical ending, if you look at Rik`s second link. It`s presented as alternate footage.
