My son has scratched his toy story boxset which cost me 45.00, is there any substance you can use to remove scratches from DVD`s

Does T-Cut work ?

no idea about T-cut, sounds like it should work (which works by filling scratches with a polymer filler) but I don`t think it dries transparent. Personally, I use a skipdoctor, which lightly buffs the layer of the disc, but only really works on minor scratches. There is a machine you can buy that fixes scratches professionally, but I think it costs about £1000, so that`s probably out of the question. (Unless you`re a millionaire, if so, can you lend me a tenner?)

My son took his PS2 game into a local games shop, not a high street name as they don`t like the idea of repairing them for £2.50 when they can sell you a new one for £45, they kept it for 2 days and returned it as good as new, it was a guaranteed repair as well, all for the token price of £2.50 !

I imagine it would work equally well with dvd`s.

Cheers, Marty :-)

you could try thatzdvd, they repair dvds for £3.50 iirc, havent used myself but have heard good things (over at dvd forums, i "think" they are sponsors over there)

www.thatzdvd.com should be the address (might be co.uk) worth it if the disc is completely dead imo.

Came back today, recorded Delivery, looks great, no sign what so ever of the horrible deep scratch around the middle of the disc :D plays back great too... new DVD player arrived too, so no more scratched DVD`s hopefully.

It`s strange that it was the Toy Story Box-set, as mine is scratched too. The scratches are identical on both of the CD`s and they won`t even load. Thing is, I don`t know how it would`ve happened as they have been barely used. May try ThatzDVD...

I have successfully used brass and silver polish i.e. Brasso and Silvo to remove minor scratches from both DVDs and CDs. Brasso seems a bit more abrasive than Silvo, but both seem to work okay.
