Page 1 of Help! - WMV to vcd
DVDs & Films Forum
I`m a total novice at this, but I need to burn a .wmv file onto a cd/r disc, using a basic cd writer, using a method that will enable the burnt disc to be read on a standalone dvd player.
I`m guessing the .wmv file has to be converted to another file format, if so, how would I go about doing this.
Thanks in advance
Pete

TMPGenc. He`s the man!
When you are putting in the input file you may need to change to show `all files`..

I tried tmpgenc, and it didn`t seem to like the wmv file for some reason
I`ve just tried it mate. Did it not show up in the list or didn`t like converting?

Hello!
I use Nero cd writing software.
Look at http://www.nero.com for a demo version.
Also there is a plug-in for nero so you can put a wmv file onto a vcd.
It works great. I`ve used it several times to do this.

The version of tmpgenc I downloaded from the site above looks nothing like the examples shown. Beginning to lose hair from over-pulling. help more!!
English bad my..
What version is it?
What did you mean "it didn`t seem to like the wmv file for some reason"
Does it appear as a selection when you try to pick the video source?

sorry, it calls it an illegal file and says it can only use mpeg-1 or mpeg-2. The only version I could find to download was Tmpegenc dvd author. I`m guessing I don`t want that....
(no hair left)
(starts looking up wigs)
Ignore me, I`m gonna put my head in a bucket and hope no-one notices me. I`ve been looking at the wrong fwickin page.
I`ll let you know how I get on. Thanks SJ
Incidentally, I`m trying to download the PROPER program, but it keeps coming up with a server error message, is this common?

Doesn`t Nero convert WMV to VCD?
