The Rock - Deluxe Edition: Is it really 5.1/DTS

Can anyone who has the above disk confirm that it does contain a DTS soundtrack, as advertised by Play.com? I had a look at the cover in Tesco`s yesterday and there`s no mention of DTS anywhere? Also, is it exactly the same 2 disc set that`s contained in the new Nicolas Cage Box Set (The Rock - 2 discs/Gone in 60 Seconds/Face Off)? Play.com advise that the 2-disc set in the box set doesn`t have DTS!!

The normal stand alone rock 2 disk set does have DTS I believe

Play just read what is in the press release and on the back of the sleeve (which is wrong does not mention it, but this is their first UK DTS title).
If you check out R2 project www.r2-dvd.org they have the menu shots which prove it has DTS as stated in every review.

There was a posting on another site that suggested that it actually costs quite a bit of money to put the DTS logo onto packaging so it could be that Touchstone elected not to pay that money but included the DTS track. Not sure though if this is in fact true or not.

I decided to purchase the Nicolas Cage 4 disc boxset (Play @ £28.99), which includes the 2 disc version of The Rock, Gone in 60 Seconds and Face Off. I can confirm that, regardless of what the box says (or rather doesn`t say), the 2 disc version of The Rock does in fact contain a DTS soundtrack.

I am not buying expensive Criterion Collections anymore. Both The Rock and ARMAGEDDON came out in R2 with same extras (Armageddon R2 even bein anamorphic!) and a lot cheaper!

The excellent Armageddon can be bought for £9.99 in most places!

BIG BUMP...Was looking for a thread on this rather than make a new one, so here is a bump of 18 years LOL. Is the film that actually that old?

Just got round to seeing 'The Rock' for the first time with Sean Connery and Nickolas Cage. Never knew it existed. Got it as a DVD out a charity shop for 50p so I though I could not go wrong with that. Was I sure wrong.

It started well enough with mad ex-army baddies holding San Francisco to ransom with some real nasty bio-hazard missiles, so enter the reluctant hero's...so far so good.

After that it just went nuts with more rides than an underground theme park under the small area of 'the rock'. Mine cart sequences that went on for miles, more service tunnels than a city, it was just crazy. You could have hid a million prisoners down there. It was Holywood taking it to the extremes of possible belief

Anyway stuck it out to the end, and its now heading its way back to the charity shop. What a load of dross.

The Rock, along with Con Air, are movies that I can't see what anyone finds enjoyment in. They clearly do, I just don't get why. :/
