Star wars and Indiana Jones trilogy on DVD?????

mathew2001 (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 8th June 2002, 18:07

I`ve seen several auctions on both Ebay and yahoo for the original Star wars trilogy, and the Indiana Jones trilogy on DVD.
At first I thought that they were just bootleg VCDs, but upon further inspection, the cases actually look pukka, and apparently they are Malasian or something.
Its not just one individual selling them either, on Ebay, there are loads of different sellers, all with great feedback selling them.
Can anyone tell me if these are pukka or not, and also if there is a site which sells them, because I cannot find one.
You might want to check them out, as I thought I knew it all, but I have changed my mind!

Cheers!

Mathew

They`re about as far from pukka as you can get (and still stay on this planet). They are so pirated I`m surprised you don`t have to pay in doubloons.

To be honest mate, thats what I thought at first, but have you checked them out?
Has anyone actually got one of these sets, as I would like to know what they are like. I know that there are no features, but are the sound and picture any good?
I`ve recently sold my VHS boxsets and I would like to replace them, and these would probably do until beardie decides to release them in about 5 years

Cheers again!

the only official option you have is getting the malaysian vcd boxset, but to be honest the quality is a bit `iffy`. however (not sure i should admit this) whilst in thailand earlier this year i bought the trilogy on dvd for £3 each. i dont normally buy pirates, but the quality of them were fantastic. they have been ripped off laser disc i think.

I`ve found them for sale on the site d9movie.com. Is it worth getting them or not? Also does anyone have any experience with this site, as they seem a bit dodgy?

Cheers!

Elephant is right, these are indeed taken from the laserdisc copies and have full 5.1 soubd. Pic quality is not the best-but a dam sight better than the vcd`s.

Have go certainly, just don`t expect the greatest!

I think the major problem with these Malaysian discs is the variations in quality, i`ve bought a couple and whilst some have decent sound and picture, others are like watching a dodgy VHS. I guess thats the price you pay for getting the titles a few months early.
