The wonder that was Wollies

Wollies are flagging up a 50% of sale in the news but their site is down "for essential maintainance"
Too many price alterations to enter or maybe the web designers have had a dose of, if we`re out of a job stuff you.

It`s been down for a while. I don`t think the entertainment department is going to get a 50% reduction, but I`m popping in at lunch t see if there are any BD bargains to be had.

They`ve just made half the head-office staff redundant (including the wife of the guy next to me). Not looking good for them.

website has been pulled... not likelyto be resurrected until a buyer is found. The sale is in store only... looking to clear dead stock and free up cash, to reduce the cash deficit. Unliley to be any entertainment reductions as the items are sale or return with Entertainment UK, part of the Woolies group that is likelyto be sold off as a going concern.

Only 10% off of entertainment products. Still dearer than Tesco, ASDA etc. No wonder they went bust.

Apparently about to announce a big closing down sale. They`re just informing staff what`s gonna happen to their jobs...

Probably still feck all worth getting. It was like a scrum in there the other day, with people ripping all kinds of tat off of the shelves in a mad dash for a `bargain`. If the BDs come down to silly levels I might be interested, but other than that...

my missus said there as some good DVDs in our local woolworths quite cheap, and then there`s an addition 30% off the marked price. The titles she mentioned are about £5 (she got 3:10 Yuma, The Cottage and American Gangster)at play.com etc anyway. She did say it was a bit like a depressing jumble sale in there, even worse than Primark!

and going to get worse some ex-colleagues tell me, as they are now running short of stock, replenishment is piecemeal, and lots of business ie new papers, jml, EUK, Lotto... are now refusing to supply them! I forsee some troubles ahead... the the news tonight is that all the buyers have lost interest? This could be Woolies last Winterwonderland? :(
