You really have to be a parent to understand your lack of understanding.

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

This `Entitlements Agency` charges you £94 for the luxury - albeit deducted from the award.

Surely if the criteria is accurate, and you meet it, you`d be better giving your local tax office a call and quizzing them?

Hm, I spotted that too. This download is a form to give the Entitlements Agency Ltd (NOT a government office!) the right to act on your behalf as your agent to get you the unclaimed tax credits, and then charge you £94 for the pleasure.

I for one am not prepared to have someone like that act on my behalf. I googled the rebate that this is on about and quickly found a thread on moneysavingexperts (or whatever it`s called) that says that no one at the tax office or tax credits office knows anything about the required form for you to claim direct and you can`t download it online unless you live in Wales.

People have been moaning left right and centre about the fact that unless you are prepared to go into your local tax office with a copy of the form that you want and insist that someone goes and finds you one, you don`t stand a chance of getting this rebate.

Which is why this agency and others are charging people to claim on their behalf.

I don`t have time to go and visit my tax office (perish the thought!), ergo I won`t get the rebate. The system is stupid. I had 2 kids during that period, so apparently I`m entitled to £1040, which isn`t to be sniffed at!

Surely they have all my tax records, so why don`t they just give me the damned rebate? >:(

What?.. really?... you don`t say....

I wouldn`t trust anyone at the tax credits office to sit the right way on a toilet...

But surely if there genuinely is a chance of getting this amount back its worth sacrificing the £94 `admin` fee ?

Just a thought?
Rich.

Me too... I think my problem is the way I look at it.

I.e I pay someone some of my salary because they have a child.

Cos that is what it boils down to. Its not a Govt incentive or relief etc. Its simply part of my salary going to someone else.

Maybe I`m not looking at the whole picture, so please don`t have a go at me, but an explanation would be better... Might need to start a new thread in general forum for this one and open a whole can of worms (:¦
