Damn, I bought this camera when it came out. It`s a good camera which is not an SLR. Lens is good as it covers 28-300mm (35mm equiv) so good Wide and Telephoto pics.

I was interested in this camera until I read the review and discovered that it is powered by four AA batteries.

4 X NiMh AAs what`s the problem; cheap to buy and you can have a set or 2 to back up.

I have cameras, Sony and Casio, which use infolithium and AAs respectively and the diffference in cost of batteries is staggering.

But that is a bonus, means you have more choice with rechargeables rather than being stuck to custom battery.

I have had a Fuji s7000 for about 3 years now and it`s a brilliant peice of kit. Very similar to this cam actually.

AA`s are definitely a plus, one of the criteria last time I bought a digicam. Try picking up a charged proprietory battery pack from the corner shop or garage.

Get a couple of sets of high capacity cells from 7dayshop and a cheap charger.

The minus points for AA`s are that they don`t last very long in a high useage device like a digital camera and high capacity ones take a hell of a long time to charge.

My 2600s take about 2.5 hours in a fast charger and are good for about 150 pics, but a lot l
less with flash.
