Car Insurance from Ireland

Mikeonfreeserve (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 6th September 2006, 17:16

Got my car insurance renewal quote from Norwich Union and it was huge (nearly £600).

I looked around and got very similar cover from Quinn Direct, based in Ireland, for almost 50% cheaper. So that`s my bargain bit.

Has anyone else used this company?

Don`t know all the details, but my brother wrote off his car whilst insured with them. They dillied and dallied and initially refused to cover it, and it took several snail mail letters for my Dad to sort it all out. Pretty sure he had to threaten legal action.

If it`s any help, my best quote this year is from Endsleigh.

I use Direct Line, Premium has reduced each year since taking out over 3 years ago.

Cheapest is not always best.

I would highly recommend Direct Line and no, I do not work for them.

I have been with Tescos for about 6 years, both of our cars, cheap and always had very good service, though never made a claim, but when we needed a certificate of insurance to cover us on a loan car it was magnificent service.

And I don`t work for them!

I tried Tescos as they are supposed to be competive, not so with modified cars though, wanted to add and add for each item.

Been with Adrian Fluxx for the last 3 years and they are great and quick to settle also.

And going right round in a circle, I`ve got my car, home AND breakdown with Norwich Union as found them to be the cheapest on all 3!! (AND I don`t even work for them!!)

Best bet is to use www.confused.com and get a quote there, fab service!!

:)

Quinn Direct seem to have a very bad reputation for the manor in which they handle claims. I went with them despite warnings from family and friends (they were the cheapest.........but, you get what you pay for!). I have lost more money in the long run. I`ve found their staff incompetent and extreemly unprofessional. The seemingly straightforward process of dealing with a collision into the back of my car turned out to be a stressful and upsetting experience. Quinn Direct offer an inferior service without a dobut. Just wish I`d listened to everyone! Good luck! :)

Elephant always seems to beat everyone else on price for me.
