AH14 (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 6th October 2005, 14:35

As Telewest and NTL have merged ealier this week to challenge sky for T.V and BT for broadband. There are trying there upmost to keep existing customer and getting new customers too.

Anyway im a NTL/Blueyonder customer and rang up the customer line to cancel my internet connection in which i was paying 25.00. They asked me for a reason and i said don`t use it as much any more. He offered me it for 15.00 and i said hmm.. good offer but nah... then he dropped down to 10.00.. i said hell yea !!! and thats for 6 months...

So if u guys/gals wanna risk ur connection by canceling it then hav a go like this..

I did a similar thing yesterday.

I called them to cancel my telewest TV package because I am thinking of going to SKY+. I told them this and they told me that their version of SKY+ will be coming out in December.

80Hr drive
HDTV ready
Record 2 watch a third program
etc....

They said they would give me my TV package for free until Next January, till their version comes out if I stay.

So.... I stayed :D

They did the same for me with their phone line. I told them I wanted to disconnect so gave me half price line rental for 4 months. 4 months later I called to disconnect and they offered me FREE line rental for 5 months. They just seem to be desperate to save customers for some reason.

I work for Vodafone and they`re the same. Call in to disconnect and mention you`re taking up a deal with Orange or 02 and they`ll bend over backwards to keep ya.

Do you not have to pay up for the remainder of your contract though? I signed up with Blueyonder in April but knowing my luck they would say yes we`ll cancel but you have to give us 7 months line rental first!!

I got mine knocked down to £15 until it goes to 4mb then there will be a 2mb service @ £17.99 sounds good to me as I have been paying £25 for over 3 year now

Bastards!! They said all they can do is reduce my speed down to 512kb and therefore I`d only pay £17.99 - no mention of any reduction on my monthly £25!
