Sony PSP for £127

splinters (Competent) posted this on Sunday, 6th March 2005, 00:09

dvdsoon.com have the Sony PSP on preorder for 299 Canadian dollars with a release date of 24 March 2005. This converts to approx £127. Considering we Brits don`t have a definite release date and the RRP is expected to be at least £200 this seems a bit of a bargain. Of course you have to take into account DVDsoon`s slow shipping and potential Customs charges but for the `early adopters` out there it seems a reasonable deal! :)

Wouldn`t this have to be PAL format to work with UK games? And what about the fact that thee are no games?

Don`t forget import duty and VAT!

The PSP games are not region coded like PS2!

Cant see a problem as most (if not all) TV`s sold in UK\Europe these days can accept a NTSC signal.

I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

The DS (Nintendo) is out Friday and it is truly amazing at just £99 in the UK with VAT and all that stuff!

Multi-playing via Wi-Fi and only one game needed for all players, you download levels via wi-fi and the touch screen is put to amazing use in the games and the graphics are superb!!

just a coupl eof points!

1. The NTSC/PAL debate only really applies if you are hooking up to a TV, this is where the NTSC or PAL system applies, as this has it`;s own build in screen it`s not really appropriate.

2. DON`T buy a Nintendo DS as a PSP substitute! I have both and the PSP out ranks the DS in every way. DO buy the DS if you want to play the games available on it. I bought my DS from dvdsoon and a copy of Feel the Magic and Mario the costs were. DS, £53 + £23 import duty, Mario £18, Feel The Magic £18. If you are going to buy a UK model I suggest ordering any extra games you want from dvdsoon as they work out far cheaper than UK releases and just buy the DS and one game from UK launch.
