Finally I`ve taken the plunge and bought a portable DVD player, It`s a Yamada PVD-500, 5" TFT Screen, Multi-Region out of the box, Plays everything DVD/CD/CD-R/CD-RW/JPEG, 3hr battery which clips on the back nicely, good earphones.

Overall very impressed and for only £129.99 from www.special.reserve.co.uk (£126.99 + £3 delivery).

Pete

For that price it`s a bargain and a neat little player. :)

It was on here a couple of weeks ago. A day or so before it came up I took the plunge and bought the Venturer, cheap from Argos.

-Edit

Enjoy! :)

Surely not with it`s own screen for that money?

Currently being plugged at Argos for the princely sum of £79.99.

It`s quite a new player and nothing was noted on DVDRhelp

No screen on that bad boy and I`d say you might have trouble finding a region hack, but what do you expect for £70? I reckon it`ll be a year before the portables with screens drop below the £100 mark in the UK.

Peteh - that is a good buy. Richersounds is doing the same one for £119.95, but it`s region 2 only. Do you know how yours was made multi-region?

Do you think the following will work (would you mind trying it out! :) );

ojock - You dont have to change the region on the PVD-500 it`s multi region out of the box. I think on the other models i.e. the PVD-700 (7" Screen, Now discontinued) you had to enter the code. I`ve tried region 1,2 & 3 disks with no problem.

If it is the PVD-500 that Richer Sounds are selling then it should be multi region out of the box, mine was.

Hope this helps

Pete

Have just checked RS site and they do two versions of the Yamada. One is R2 and the other is multi-region (£20 more!).

Well in that case the Yamada PDV-500 from RicherSounds @ £99.95 must be a mirage! 8)
