Hey,
Have you found an reviews on this? Detail on the net is hard to find. I see that it`s an SC-D230 in the US, but still can`t find any reviews.
I think I`m gonna go for the new Sony HC18 - £318 from PRCdirect.co.uk - but watch the prices - Amazon over the last week have come down from 399-->349-->329 so I think I`ll buy it from there. £499 in the high street. Nice review at camcorderinfo.com
I am looking to purchase a camcorder (miniDV)
Was about to settle for a Sony HC18, but walked into Dixons and they showed me Samsung VPD230 on special. It had all these extra features for better price than sony.
Then today found same site as you mentioned for best price.
BUT I am very nervous because not sure about samsung, or whether lense quality/ noise from machine/ and audio quality ie mic onto cam/ as good as Sony.
Have you had any problems todate?
Would you recommend Samsung?
I will recommend Samsung.
Every bit of kit I have branded "Samsung" is top notch.
I have a monitor, TV, DECT Phone and DVD player.
Even their components such as memory is good.
Most Jap stuff is good quality.
i got one of these from dixons last week for the 329 price comes with bag and a couple of tapes, pleased as punch with it just waiting for the memory stick to come so i can play with the digital camera.. don`t know if its any good but the cheapest price i could find for 128 mem stick was 23.44 delivered from 7 day shop..don`t suppose any one no`s where to get a spare battery for it??

"Most Jap stuff is good quality."
But Samsung are Korean .
Chris Muriel, Manchester.
Get your spare batteries on ebay I spent $13 (inc postage) on a spare battery for my Canon MV700 which would have cost over £50 had I bought a genuine Canon. I`ve used it a couple of times and it seems to work perfectly.
