Radeon 9800 Pros for £160

All over the frigging place, as the title says. Ridiculously cheap considering the 9800XTs are only marginally better.

Or you could have a Radeon 9600XT for £100 from dabs.

no stock, and unconfirmed - they had the same card listed last month at £135, but also `unconfirmed` and never turned up at that price. £145 looks more likely though, if you dont mind waiting.

Thats what I thought with komplett, they have a radeon 9800 Pro that will be there by the 26th April for £160, but knowing their reputation I would go to www.overclockers.co.uk and get one for £155 including VAT. Or there is one on ebay with free delivery.

Thats a radeon 9800SE, you can`t always tell if it is possible to soft-mod it to pro levels. Best not to take the risk with it. If it turns out you can`t mod it, it performs worse than the 9600XT.

The 9800 Pro is there for £160 though, as most sites seem to have. What are the odds that ATI release a graphics card that makes everything redundant in a month?

Redundant? That`s a bit strong!

What`s s*** hot today doesn`t automatically become s*** slow tomorrow!!

I let my mind wander....and it didn`t come back.

But you know there are plans to release new graphics cards soon. Right?

With the advent of PCI Express, I have to ask myself how long any graphics card I buy is going to last. My feeling is that this graphics card will last for 3 years before it is finally retired. Is that worth £160? I think so. Games always take a couple of years to catch up with the graphics technology anyway.

The lengths i go to, to help people out...I signed up just to reply to this thread lol.

I bought a geforce3 Ti 500 18 months ago and only now am I having difficulty with games i.e Far Cry so i am on the look out for a new card. I was going to go for the 9800se but there`s only a 50/50 of softmodding and the 9800se as standard does not live up to the 9700pro so it is best to buy the 9800 pro and be sure and done with.

For the real bargain, if you don`t mind oem is this one 9800 Pro if you can find cheaper (I did but lost it, it was £122) then I would like to see it ;)
