Cheap 28 inch Widescreen TVs

Been on the look-out for a decent 28" widescreen for a low price and found these two :

The Toshiba 28W23B can be ordered online with free delivery from Tesco for £299.99. (This is apparently £50 less than the RRP)

However, a TV which is exactly the same, apart from the front panel and remote control (I kid you not), the Hitachi C28W440N was on sale in Safeways for £299.99, but this week is on offer for £269.99! Bargain!

Both TVs come with a stand and handle NTSC playback (a useful feature these days). I`ve bought one of the Hitachis, so we`ll just have to see...

Oh, and they are also currently offering a Bush 32" widescreen telly for £399.99. Not too bad, but Bush generally get bad reviews!

(The Safeways I used was the Sutton store in Surrey FYI.)

Bought a 32in widescreen Goodmans from Comet before Xmas for 379.99. Bloody heavy, but carries an excellent picture and sound quality for the price. Worth thinking about if you are prepared to pay 300 for a 28 inch.

Whats the Hitachi like with RGB?

I ask as I have a 25" one and when its set to RGB with my DVD player on I can`t view other channels as all! Not unless I turn the DVD player off! Pain or what!

The Hitachi is excellent with RGB. I got it home last night and hooked up my PS2 and cable to it and it works lovely. Very clear picture with good picture adjustment functions. The screen isn`t perfectly flat, but, hell, it `aint Sony Wega and it did only cost £269.99! The sound quality is very good, but I wouldn`t expect to be blowing the roof off with it. Overall, a very good TV for the money with loads of features and a good picture!

One other point - I have a few PS2 games that run at 60hz and the TV handles them perfectly!

As for your problem, when each of the SCART sockets receives a signal from a device, the TV will automatically switch to that SCART channel. I can switch between both of mine using the `AV` button on the remote, if I have both the PS2 and cable switched on. As for the not being able to view other channels, I don`t use an aerial myself, but have you tried pressing the `TV` button to get back to your normal TV ? If neither of these work, I`d contact your local Hitachi bods...
