RE: Donnie Darko for £7.50

FYI - the reason that the DD DVD has been held off / not re-released on budget over here is because it went to the cinemas originally a couple of years ago, got ignored, came out on DVD. All well and good.

Then someone realised that it ruled, it got pegged for a cinema re-release over here and the distributors pulled all the DVD copies. It`s due to be released on R2 thought, but will probably go to full price first (again). So that`s why it`s hard to find a cheap copy on R2. Stick with R1 if you can get it cheap !

Play.com and Playstation 2

I`ve noticed that play.com has had a lot of exposure over it`s DVD bargains, but they also do a good line in PS2 accessories and games.

They have 8mb memory cards for £17.99 or a double pack for £29.99. That`s how much one costs you in Virgin!

Check this page for details :

One item that a lot of people want, that they have but isn`t listed on the above page is Action Replay v2.2. This can be found here for £17.99, almost half the full RRP! :

Cheap Blank DVD-Rs/CD-Rs

I noticed a few people asking about these. I use a company called SVP Communications, whose offers page is frequently chokka with good deals.

I bought 200 80-minute CD-Rs from them for just over £30 including delivery. (On the following page, it`s the Datasafe (BLUE DYE) Branded 80 minute CDR in Packs of 50 - £7.74 each)

Cheap 28 inch Widescreen TVs

Been on the look-out for a decent 28" widescreen for a low price and found these two :

The Toshiba 28W23B can be ordered online with free delivery from Tesco for £299.99. (This is apparently £50 less than the RRP)

However, a TV which is exactly the same, apart from the front panel and remote control (I kid you not), the Hitachi C28W440N was on sale in Safeways for £299.99, but this week is on offer for £269.99! Bargain!

Both TVs come with a stand and handle NTSC playback (a useful feature these days). I`ve bought one of the Hitachis, so we`ll just have to see...

Oh, and they are also currently offering a Bush 32" widescreen telly for £399.99. Not too bad, but Bush generally get bad reviews!

(The Safeways I used was the Sutton store in Surrey FYI.)
