So Much said about the Sony DVP-300 and 500 but what about the DVP400

is the 300 a better player than the 400 ? I still have yet to see any reviews on the 400 machine. Can anyone help me out ? Do you own one, and what are you opinions ? I own the 400 and i must say, its so much of an improvement from my proline 1000. I no longer care about hacking the machine, i don`t care about fancy extras. What i want out of my DVD player is for it to play region 2 DVD`s with style. Optimum picture and sound quality win over extras every time.

Recently bought the Sony DVP-400D with inbuilt dolby decoder, my tv is a JVC 28WFR1EK with virtual surround sound function in built. I can connect up two speakers to the back of my tv which will use my tv speakers as center speakers. The problem i have is, should i turn off my tv`s virtual surround sound function and use the dvd`s dynamic sound function or should i use a combination of the two ? Also, when i do get around to having an amplifier and speakers, should I connect the amp to my tv or dvd player ? Sound is becoming increasingly important to me. Does anyone know of a good website that can explain the concepts of home cinema in a simple and understandable way ? Thankyou

Scart and S-Video

Just ordered some new scart sockets ( a recommendation from someone in this forum). Should i connect my DVD up with scart and S-Video to maximise the picture. I have heard that a lot of people do this, is this true ? Thankyou,

Hi,

I`ve been told that linking your DVD player to your TV with a scart socket is good quality, but linking scart and S-VIDEO is even better is this true ?

Macrovision ?

Is it a protection to stop DVD`s being copied ?? If so can you get around it ? Thanks


Also i was reading some of the older threads and i came across one about cables. My setup is this:

TV= 28" JVC AV-28WFR1 with inbuilt dolby pro-logic 3D Phonic
DVD= Sony DVP-NS400 with inbuilt 5.1 decoder
Video= some old nackered thing that wakes up entire neighbourhood when rewinding.

Should i buy expensive scart leads to enhance this setup or should i stick with the scarts included ? Thanks

Amp advice needed

Hi,

I`ve just bought the Sony dvp-ns400. It has a dolby 5.1 decoder inbuilt. What are the best priced amp and speakers available for it ? Also does anyone know whether this DVD player is multi-regional ? Can it VCD`s ? One more question, what are SVCD`S, and why do people want to play mp3 through there DVD player, will a Hi-Fi not support them ? Thankyou

Firstly, what is s-video and what is composite video AV ? What exactly do they do ?

What does RGB mean ?

What is digital audio and how does it work ?

What is composite video ?

If a DVD player has a 5.1 decoder inbuilt, does that mean that you need a amplifier to exploit that ?

Please could you answer these questions as if i`m a five year old. Obviously from this thread you have noticed i`m not the brightest star in the sky, so if you could help me out i would be extremely grateful. Thanks a lot,

Anyone got a SONY DVP-NS400 ?

Hello there,

I`ve been after a review of this DVD player now for what seems like forever. Could someone please tell me if this DVD player is any good ? I know that it has a Dolby Digital decoder. Do you have to have a surround sound set up in order to exploit this feature ? Also does this DVD player convert to Region 1 ? I`m a total novice when it comes to DVD hardware, i would really appreciate someone elses knowledge on this DVD player. Thankyou
