RE: Amazon minor error - moral dilemma (advice appreciated)

Haha! :)

Amazon are picking it up Friday afternoon.

End of story.

RE: Amazon minor error - moral dilemma (advice appreciated)

FWIW, I`m emailing Amazon now to see what they say. One thing is 100% certain: if they want it back, THEY have to pay the postage. In fact, I`m telling them I`m not even getting off my lazy arse and they have to get a courier to knock on my door to pick it up!

Thanks for your replies. Even the ones that said it was stealing if I kept it (which it bloody isn`t BTW).

Lard

RE: Amazon minor error - moral dilemma (advice appreciated)

:)

It`s going to have to go back I reckon. Or at least give them the ultimatum as it were.

RE: Amazon minor error - moral dilemma (advice appreciated)

Worried I might get caught? Caught doing what? I`ve done nothing wrong (so far).

Thanks for your replies. Pretty much as I expected really, some say send it back, some say keep it.

Amazon minor error - moral dilemma (advice appreciated)

Ok, I`d appreciate some advice on what to do with this.

I ordered a radio from Amazon early last month for my Dad`s birthday and it didn`t arrive within two weeks. I chased it up and Amazon realised there was a problem and sent me a replacement for free. Absolutely no charge at all. The replacement arrived in time for the old mans birthday and everyone was happy. Then (you know what`s coming) the original radio arrived in a somewhat bashed up box with `re-sealed by DHL` tape all over it. The radio box inside looks fine. The thing is, Amazon haven`t contacted me about it and they haven`t taken another payment for it. So, in effect, the radio I paid for has been delivered (all be it late and in a bashed box) and a radio we got for free from Amazon has also been delivered.

Both were signed for on the door so DHL know we received two boxes. Amazon know we were sent two radio`s. Maybe when they marry their records (do they actually DO this?) they`ll realise we have an extra radio.

In the mean time I could send Amazon an email saying `send me a postage paid label to return the extra radio or I keep it`. Or I could just keep quiet. What do you lot think? Are their any likely legal ramifications?

Cheers
Lard

CD WOW being decent and honest...

I`ve just received an email from CD WOW regarding my pre-order of LOTR:ROTK extended edition on region 1. I pre-ordered it at £24.99 happy enough to pay that price but they`ve managed to get it cheaper so they`re passing the savings on to us. The price is now £17.99 but I`m not getting the brown end of the stick - they`ve given me a voucher for the difference.

True it`s not a refund and there might be more to it than meets the eye, but they`re not obliged to do things like this. As far as I`m concerned that`s a tick in their column.

LG DAT-200 (DVD, 5.1, Freeview) - Any help?

Hi,

Anyone got a LG DAT-200? It`s a DVD player with 5.1 speakers and amp AND a freeview box all in one! I`m tempted to combine all my boxes into one with this beast but it seems to be too new to have any reviews or opinions etc.

Press release here:
http://www.lge.co.uk/mod_perl/go.pl/site/news/newstory.htm?uid=183

I`d like to know if there`s a RGB Scart on the back so I can connect to my TV. I`d like to know if it can be multi-region hacked. Bah! I`d like to know something about it, other than you can get it for about £240 at the moment!

Maybe I should ring LG :)

RE: Savings on nearly everything form CD wow links to cheap mobile phones etc

Nice site.

Just saved a really big wad on my car insurance :D

RE: Cerebus Book 10: Minds for £1

Already got Jaka`s Story and C&S2, otherwise I`d`ve been jealous as hell!

They were super-fast delivering though. Ordered Monday, delivered Wednesday. £3.75 all in. I wonder if they`ve got any other stuff quite so cheap eh?...

Cerebus Book 10: Minds for £1

For the comic fans amongst you. Amazon have the 10th Cerebus phone book for £1. Yep, Minds for a quid.

Anyway do a search for `minds dave sim` and it`ll pop up. I`ve already got mine.

RE: THE POLICE SACD`S £4.99 @ AMAZON

LOL Roger.

Two things on my list at the moment:
Pioneer 656A
Donald Fagen - The Nightfly on DVD-Audio

:)

RE: THE POLICE SACD`S £4.99 @ AMAZON

Amazon have put the `real` price on these albums now - 14 quid. My order still has them for 5 though. Teehee :)

RE: THE POLICE SACD`S £4.99 @ AMAZON

Order placed. £11.73 for the two. We shall see if they honour it :)

Oh and the other thing that makes you think it`s an error is the picture for both SACD`s is `The Very Best of Scotland`...

RE: The Life of Brian - Criterion Version (Region 1)

I hope the Pythons don`t turn this into another Spinal Tap. And by that I mean both Criterion and MGM released their own versions of Spinal Tap, both of which are very good and worth having. Hence there`s no definitive version and the consumer is forced to choose. (As it happens the Criterion version is OOP and rare now).

One of the few things I don`t like about Criterion is you never know if the studio who own the long term rights to the film are going to do their own version at some point after Criterion`s contract has lapsed. As an owner of the Criterion LOB I`d be a bit miffed to find <whoever> are going to release a super-duper version in the future with a whole bunch of Python extras and fun.

The Holy Grail disc was SO good I might just be forced to get a LOB:SE release anyway. I almost died laughing when I saw Dentist on the Job :)

RE: Play247.com - Second Hand DVD`s

Not had any problems with Play myself.

The postman story is unfortunately true in some places. And worse. Not much point marking something as fragile apparently - it`s an invitation to `whoever` to play football with your parcel. Best thing is to wrap everything extremely well. I think it depends on where you live too. I live in a nice little town so that kind of thing is rare. Cities on the other hand?...

Movietyme BTTF trilogy strangeness

So I pre-ordered the Back to the Future trilogy on Region 1 from Movietyme for £23. Not the cheapest place by a couple of quid or so, and it`s already out R2 and R4 with less features etc. but I don`t mind. They`ve apparently got them in stock now which is nice as I believe the official date is the 17th. Nice early crimbo pressie.

So anyway I had a little look at the site just now and the price for ordering the set now is £40. Yep £40. That`s for the USA version. The Canadian is £24 and R4 is only £21 of course. But, £40? They`ve stated they`re honouring the pre-order price, which is fair and correct, but that`s one hell of a price hike, considering you can get it for substantially less at several other places.

Weird...

(oh, and the obligatory BTTF quote for such threads:
<said through liquor> jeez you smoke too! )

RE: Outlook Express Problem...Need Help Please!

Heh I have the same problem. My solution was to use Eudora for those attachments I couldn`t access.

Hey this website is SO much FUN! (adverts again)

Two intrusive, noisy, pointless ads at once! You surpass yourselves!

Sod it, I give up.

RE: `Three Colours` DVD`s - Just £7.99 each (P&P incl)

Yep. The R2 discs are just gorgeous. Especially Blue.

RE: Free DVD

Heh Full Monty here cos you lot probably got all the What Lies Beneath discs :)

RE: Do you buy stuff on ebay?

I don`t buy much on ebay these days. Except for the odd `must have` item. Mostly I sell stuff, and a previous edit in this thread was completely correct. You can make wads of cash for all that old crap in your cupboards that you were going to throw out. I`m mildly proud of that fact that I made about £700 over the last couple of weeks just selling off old tat that I didn`t use/need any more.

GTA3 (PC) £18 at Play

Seeing as everywhere else is selling this title for at least £25 I decided this was quite a bargain. And that`s including delivery (as ever).

The game is just SO damn good too...

(oh yeah sorry this isn`t about DVD`s *giggle*)

RE: DVD Reviewer Adverts (again) SIGH :(

I thought I`d give them the benefit of the doubt with that Behind Enemy Lines ad and not mention it initially. It only bugged me once and I managed to kill it soon enough. It was much the same as a Predator advert a few months back but that one was way harder to get rid of.

You`re correct though in stating that it does obscure the enter link. How can DVD Reviewer expect people to navigate thier site when adverts obscure the links. Extraordinary.

Also, adverts with sound are a BIG mistake. I don`t care what they`re for, if they make a racket I ignore them completely without exception.

RE: Anyone know a good/cheap place to buy a ROLEX ?????

Shanghai.

£2 per watch! Mine`s still going! w00t!

RE: DVD Reviewer Adverts (again) SIGH :(

Thanks for the response guys. I`d prefer to see the site stay free but with sensible advertising.

DVD Reviewer Adverts (again) SIGH :(

Surely I can`t be the only one who`s sick to death of that poxy freeserve pop-up advert.

I`ve kept quiet as long as I can because I realise the site needs advertising revenue. But enough is enough. I wasn`t interested in Freeserve before the advert, but you can be damn sure I am now utterly 100% against the stupid ISP now. It pops up 2 or 3 times per visit. It doesn`t just pop up the once, whether you kill the window or not. That`s 2 or 3 extra windows with the same advert. It`s been running for weeks now. Not just a short-lived campaign.

Argh poxy poxy poxy rant rant rant...

RE: Onkyo txds595

Yep got the Onkyo + Missions speakers and its the muts nuts.

RE: News for Back To The Future Fans

Damn me what a nice thread :)

"Flux capacitor... fluxxing..."

RE: Back to the Future Question?

No news. Sucks doesn`t it.

RE: Back to the Future Question?

Hmm can`t have been the acting. She wasn`t that bad. Perhaps she was pregnant? :)

She was certainly not as bad as Elizabeth Shue right at the end of the 3rd film where she asks the doc about the piece of paper she found and how it had changed after they dicked about with the timeline. I can`t remember the exact line but it was the funniest thing in the trilogy. Total muppetry!
