RE: Concerns over Toshiba SD-330...
It does only happen on RGB signals only though which is a pain, I never had any problems with my PS2 although that was going through the component connections. I`ll have to test out another DVD player to see if I get the same problem, and if I don`t I might be making a trip to Richer Sounds, or possibly getting a new TV!!
RE: Concerns over Toshiba SD-330...
No I spose not, but maybe as its an incompatibility issue they might exchange it for a different model. I guess the only way to find out is a phone call.
RE: Concerns over Toshiba SD-330...
Thanks for the post, I`ve got this player and made the original post about the brightness issue, its starting to get annoying now as I`m constantly looking for it. Knowing that its a known fault with this model I might have to return it and try something different, I just hope Richer Sounds will do that as I`ve had the player for a couple of months now! :/
RE: Concerns over Toshiba SD-330...
I posted the thread about the brightness issue and I don`t think its a dodgy player as I bought 2, one as a gift, and they are both the same on my Philips 32" TV. I have been told that this is possibly a problem with my TV and have noticed that if I change the output to video rather than RGB the problem isn`t there (although obviously the picture is rubbish!) Not sure what to do with it at the minute though as it is a great player otherwise.
RE: Canon digi cam
Any idea what the maximum size of memory card this will take as I was looking to buy this camera but wanted a decent capacity?
RE: Brightness problem on Toshiba SD330
Oh dear not good then. I`m quite surprised that this hasn`t been mentioned in the countless 5 star reviews in magazines if its a Toshiba quirk.
Thanks for the reply, looks like I might be looking for a new player soon!
Brightness problem on Toshiba SD330
I'm hoping someone might be able to help me here. I've recently bought a Toshiba SD330 multi region dvd player, great machine, plays everything I've thrown at it so far but I've got one little problem. I seem to get a very slight increase in brightness when scenes change on dvds and then its fine. It is a very quick burst and probably not hugely noticeable but its bugging me now. Does anyone know what this might be (do I need better scart cables?) or have I got a faulty player and need to return it?
RE: Gentlemen Your Help Please What DVD do I Buy??? Is the Pioneer as good as it says??
I recently bought the Toshiba SD330 from Richer sounds, great machine, multi-region out of the box and has played everything I`ve thrown at it so far, and the best bit is that its only £66.95, cheaper than when I bought mine at the weekend!! Click here to see for yourself.
RE: Best pre £60 DVD Player at the moment
Thats just for the region 2 machine, multiregion is £68.95, still a bargain though!
RE: Alien Quadrilogy £24.99 @ WHSmiths!!!!

Yeah went back after work to check the price, cuoldn`t find it on the shelf so went to the till and some bloke had it and was arguing about the price with the manager, it had been labelled up at £24.99 but should have been £54.99, the manager was blaming one of the junior staff and because it wasn`t an advertised price claimed he didn`t have to honour the sticker price. Shame really as £24.99 would have been a great bargain. Sorry to everyone who raced down to there local store to try and buy one, I`ll be more careful in future!!

Sorry didn`t go to the counter to get them to scan it as the queue was too big and I was on my way back to work, but it had 2 stickers on the box, one for £64.99 crossed out and another with £24.99 on it. I`m going back after work to get them to scan it and see what they say if I try to get them to sell it me for the sticker price!!

PS Sorry if I`ve got everyone excited about this, I`ll make sure of my facts in future! :(

Good point there, didn`t even think about that one!!! :)
Not a wind up, it was on the shelf priced up at £24.99, I can`t confirm if its a mistake on the stores behalf though as I didn`t buy it as I`d already got a copy, and as much a bargain as it was I think 2 copies is a little excessive. I could always pop in after work to find out to save you a trip?

RE: Best pre £60 DVD Player at the moment
Try here for the Pioneer 360 @ £68.95, not sure about postage and packing though.
RE: Alien Quadrilogy £24.99 @ WHSmiths!!!!
Strange, maybe its only in certain stores?!? :/
Alien Quadrilogy £24.99 @ WHSmiths!!!!
Just been into my local WHSmiths and found the Alien Boxset on the shelves reduced from £64.99 to £24.99, quite a bargain you have to admit!!!! :D
RE: New DVD player help!!
Kebabhead
Thanks again, I`ll try scanning the forums first on the other players.
I take it that seamless branching is fairly new which is why certain players can`t handle it, is it due to various scenes being on different layers on the disc?
I know buying on the net is safe, but try telling that to my parents who struggle to set the vcr to record on timer!!!! :)

Kebabhead
Cheers, looks like it does everything I need at a pretty good price, thanks a lot looks like my cash will be well spent!
Just a quick question though, how are the other 2 players in terms of seamless branching and multiregion, I only ask as my parents are looking at buying a dvd player finally and are not too keen on buying over the net so would prefer to go to a shop to buy one, would either of these do them?
RE: New DVD player help!!
Cheers kebabhead,
Not considered the Pioneer to be honest, I`d only looked at the two players I mentioned because they were recommended to me by friends, especially the Toshiba. But I think I might have to try your link and see if I can get it for a reduced price!! Is the pioneer multiregion, and if not is it easy to hack??
Thanks for all your help!
New DVD player help!!
I am after a bit of help trying to decide on which dvd player to buy. I'm only looking at a fairly cheap but reliable system, nothing special. I've found two players that seem to fit the bill and wondered if anyone could offer me some advice as to which one to get. The players in question are:
Toshiba SD330 £79 from digital-point.co.uk
Aiwa XD-AX10 £59.99 from Sainsburys
Thanks for your help.
RE: Poor Picture
I don`t know about Road Trip, but Saving Private Ryan was made to look like that. They removed a lot of the colour before the film was released to give it an authentic feel, thats why it probably seems grainy.
