Brightness problem on Toshiba SD330

soggs (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 23rd February 2004, 12:02

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me here. I've recently bought a Toshiba SD330 multi region dvd player, great machine, plays everything I've thrown at it so far but I've got one little problem. I seem to get a very slight increase in brightness when scenes change on dvds and then its fine. It is a very quick burst and probably not hugely noticeable but its bugging me now. Does anyone know what this might be (do I need better scart cables?) or have I got a faulty player and need to return it?

My Toshiba SD220 did this as well.
It would be like someone in the scene was switching on and off lights !
Very disconcerting.
The 3 non-Toshiba machines I own (Pioneer 454/Panasonic E50/Pacific1002) didn`t do it,so I can only presume it`s a........erm...........quirk (?) with Toshibas.
I`ve heard the 330 criticised for poor brightness performance elsewhere though.

Oh dear not good then. I`m quite surprised that this hasn`t been mentioned in the countless 5 star reviews in magazines if its a Toshiba quirk.
Thanks for the reply, looks like I might be looking for a new player soon!
