RE: help on hitachi dv-p305e

Well did you press REPEAT first?

And this hack doesnt work with R1 players, Hitachi, Samsung, GE etc have removed hack codes from R1 firmwares!

RE: Grundig GDV 520 Owners - Update disc available from Mastercare!!!

Oh, another player for FIRMTweak!!!

I`ve had a quick look through it with my (special firmware) hex editor and it loks like no other firmware I`ve come across to date. I can see graphics galore in the bin file. I`ll look into writing a FIRMTweak module for it.

If the Oritron logo bothers you, then you amy be able to change it yourself in near-ish the future!

RE: FIRMTweak released.

I`ll say it now "All upgrades are carried out at the owners risk" and if they damage their player then its their own fault - and the manufacturers wont be interested in restoring it.

If people have dobuts, they wont use it. But people have tried it and it does work.

RE: FIRMTweak released.

Dont worry!

It works using a GUI which means that any modified data is controlled by FIRMTweaks player modules, users just import and modifiy the data using the editing tools provided. At no time will the user have direct access to the operating code of the firmware.

And currently FIRMTweak is a comsetic tool for most of these machines, some have internal options that can be modified but, again this is via the GUI.

The software has also been tested with various players over the past 2 months and all works perfectly - I`m not going to release this sort of program without testing it first!!!! it will also warn you if the firmware / player you are using is untested!!!

Safe as houses :-)

RE: Samsung 811 Screensaver

You can`t! But you could use FIRMTweak to change it into a black screen. See www.keithjclark.btinternet.co.uk/firmtweak for mor info.

RE: Samsung 811 at unbeatable.co.uk for £167? does anyone own a samsung 811?

The 811 is hackable to any-region but only models fitted with European firmware. The US firmware has all the hack codes removed.

Unfortunantly, the is no Macrovision disable, but I dont bother with Macrovision myselft.

RE: Samsung DVD611 Rom`s to use in FirmTweak

FIRMTweak v1.34.03 ( released and available for download from the site) supports region 2 version 4.05 and region 1 version 4.01 for the Samsung DVD-611. The program should also work with newer firmwares.

RE: Scan SC2000, Hitachi 505x, Daewoo DHC2200 and Grundig GDV130 owners, customise your firmware!!!

Toy_Car...

First, Its real. FIRMTweak has been used by Samsung, Hitachi and Thomson player owners and works flawlessly with their players.

You are correct about the testing and the possible outcomes of errors on my part. The Samsung (and clones) use EPROMs which meant testing was easy, if the program failed (which it never did, it worked first time - but thats not the point!) the EPROM could be erased and reprogrammed without any problems. The new batch of players I am adding are CD upgradeable and therefore errors are not so easily corrected, at least not by the normal home owner.

I have made contacts who mod and upgrade players, these will carry out the first stage of testing as they have the ability to restore any players and help with problems. The tester will have a document detailing how to check the tweaked firmware against the original before performing any upgrade.

Any home owners who ask to test the software are made aware of the risks (anyone here who has asked can vouch for me!) I will NOT release this software until I am happy everything works. If neccesary I will remove support for certain models until they are tested.

My posting was just a way of informing people of the program, and to try and find people who are willing / able to help me.

For now, FIRMTweak will only allow users to modify the background images that appear when you are not watching a DVD, this is because no firmware program code will be changed and I can easily perform file comparisions on tweaked ROMs.

At the end of the day, any self-upgrade is potentially dangerous and they are always carried out at the risk of the owner.

RE: Scan SC2000, Hitachi 505x, Daewoo DHC2200 and Grundig GDV130 owners, customise your firmware!!!

Clayts, can you clear up some firmware version/player conflicts for me?

I`ve downloaded Afreey, Sampo DVE 620, DVE 660 DVE(?)560, Encore etc... firmware and most of them are exatcly the same!

Could you please help me complile a list of which players use the exact same firmware, and which chipsets are used. I don`t know the architecutre of these players too well yet. I`m a Samsung owner, ZiVA all the way!

You can e-mail me through the FIRMTweak home page if you need to.

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

What about Scan, Hitachi, Daewoo and Grundig owners any info?

RE: Scan SC2000, Hitachi 505x, Daewoo DHC2200 and Grundig GDV130 owners, customise your firmware!!!

Well, the program does support the Sampo 560 and the Monyka 8200 as well as the players listed above. FIRMTweak is programmed to be flexible with players based on similar architecture, so if the players you listed are all clones then the program will probably work with them anyway.

To test support, I need firmware for these players. Any URL`s?

Scan SC2000, Hitachi 505x, Daewoo DHC2200 and Grundig GDV130 owners, customise your firmware!!!

I`m looking for a handfull of owners who are willing to test FIRMTweak with their DVD players. The program is at a pre-release test stage but it has not been tried on a real DVD player yet.

For more info see www.keithjclark.btinternet.co.uk/firmtweak for more information of the program. The current download does not support your players yet, but if I can find someone brave enough to test the program with their machine then I can hopefully get round to releasing it.

Ta!

Keith
