Woah - this is a major new development in the tweakability of these players.

I would also counsel some caution though, as you could seriously screw up your player if you naff around with the firmware too much. Uploading pre-configured code is fine, but letting people who aren`t sure what they`re doing loose to edit it themselves is something of a receipe for disaster...

Good luck though guys, and I`m interested to see how well this all works.

Cheers

Dont worry!

It works using a GUI which means that any modified data is controlled by FIRMTweaks player modules, users just import and modifiy the data using the editing tools provided. At no time will the user have direct access to the operating code of the firmware.

And currently FIRMTweak is a comsetic tool for most of these machines, some have internal options that can be modified but, again this is via the GUI.

The software has also been tested with various players over the past 2 months and all works perfectly - I`m not going to release this sort of program without testing it first!!!! it will also warn you if the firmware / player you are using is untested!!!

Safe as houses :-)

We`ll see - when these things get into the hands of everyday common joe users I`ve seen some pretty amazing and unpredictable things happen in the past !

I`ll say it now "All upgrades are carried out at the owners risk" and if they damage their player then its their own fault - and the manufacturers wont be interested in restoring it.

If people have dobuts, they wont use it. But people have tried it and it does work.
