Video CD`s

Are video CD`s protected by the same regional coding as DVD`s? Can they be played in unhacked drives. If you have a hacked DVD drive will it then play VCD`s from any region?

Cheers

Creative DTT3500 - Wiring

I`m wanting to extend the cables to my speakers on the Creative DTT3500. Whats the best way of doing this. Can I just go out and buy longer cables that`ll work or will I have to do some soldering?

Anyone needed longer cables for their set-up?

Cheers

RE: Creative DXR3 ..connecting to TV?

I`ve got a similar set up to the one you describe. I bought a lead from the same web site you posted the link for. They do a longer cable that allows you to connect the seven pin S-video connection on the creative decoder card to the 4 pin s-video socket on your TV. Try this link.

http://www.svideotorca.com/hol.html

You can then use this to connect the card to the TV without the need for extention leads. The lead provides a s-video connection as well as a composite connection (where the picture is pushed down one wire rather than several).

RE: Creative Infra Package

Hi there,

I`ve got the creative package and I`m quite happy with it. I had a similar problem with the lenght of cable. You have to be careful though. The S-video connector on the decoder card has a 7 pin socket not the standard 4 pin on most regular s-video cables so you can`t go out and buy any longer cable.

I order a longer cable form this place over the internet http://store.yahoo.com/videoware/index.html

They sell long creative compatible s-video cales for around £16. I haven`t had any problems with delivery. My oder came with in two weeks.

Hope it helps

Dave

RE: Poor Picture

The Toy Story and Bugs Life DVD`s were taken straight from a digital image rather than the celluloid film giving them a better picture quality. This could be the reason.

RE: Cheap 5.1 Sound....

Simply Computers are now doing the Creative DTT3500 for £175 including VAT and postage. It`s the cheapest I`ve seen it for. They are also doing the TEAC 1500 for £165 including. Not bad!

Surround Sound

Has anyone noticed the price drop for Dolby Digital 5.1 systems over the past few days. Both Videologic and Creative systems are now below £190 at Buy.com, Jungle.com and Insight.com. There has never been a better time to buy.

Creative Dxr3 Problems

Has anyone had problems with the Creative Dxr3 card not recognising certain DVD videos? I`ve had no problems with it until I bought the Wallace and Gromit and Ardman Animation DVDs. It doesn`t seem to recognise that they are in the drive. The DVDs work on other players.

Any ideas? I`m wondering if this will be a problem with other DVDs in the future.
