Very simple, to get CD-Rs to work you need to use certain CDR Media. Use `Princo` Branded Media, you can buy this here:

I currently use `DATASafe` Media as its made by `Princo`. Hope this helps.

Wharfdale M5, any good for DTS and DD 5.1?

Hi, I thinking of buying this player instead of a AMP as then i could have two DVD\VCD Players as i have a Philips 711 alreadt but want DTS and Dolby Digital Sound really.

I have the 6 phone inputs on my Hi-Fi Already so would be easy to set up than a Stand A Lone Amp.

What i really would like to know is is the DTS and Dolby Digital Sound as good as it would be with a Stand A Lone Decoder\AMP?

Also if there problems at all with DVD Play back?

Its seems a very good buy at 150 quid with DD DTS and MP3 play back, if fact it seems to good!

I have read about only getting serial numers from 127xxxx onwards, so i take it all the earlyer problems are solved?

What CD-Rs work on the new Samsung M105? Same as 709?

Just picked up this player hacked within a few mintues. Only down side is it does`nt play CD-R. I have quite a few VCD movies on CD-R and would like to be able to play them on this DVD player, does anyone know if there is a brand that works?

I have got 350 - 400 pounds to spent in Dixons or Currys ONLY on a setup!

I have just got my money back on a Hi-Fi DVD player all in one job from Dixons and have got the above to spend in there stores.
I need some advice on what to buy please.

i need:

Multi-Regional (via simple handset hack) DVD player with CDR and VCD play back

A Hi- Fi with at least a Dolby Pro Logic decoder on board.

As this was my Hi-fi and DVD player in one i need both for under 400 quid please, any advice and prices would be great as i have`nt look at prices of stuff for ages since i last bought this 8 months ago.

I.E "Kenwood KRFV5050" is 290 pounds in a homeshopping catalog, 180 quid online, i think thats sothing that most people wouldt be unhappy about, unless your a rich, summg bast*rd of course.

Why don`nt you just buy one from one of those homeshopping cataloges, that why you can pay monthly and own the TV at the end. Plus you have the benifit that if it goes wrong for any reason just send it erm back and they will send you another one stright away. The bonus of this if you pay say over 1\2 yrs they will bring a newer version of the origional TV so if yours goes wrong you get the newer one for free. You may pay a little extra than buying from a TV retailer but you can pay monthly and have cover and own the TV at the end. I have down this with no end of things and saved a hell of a lot of money over all. Or if ya have a credit card just buy and pay monthly on that :)

I have been reading these forums since January and really did enjoy them untill recently. There used to be no end of good info but now it just seems to be the same old stuff over and ober again. There used to be noend of aruging with the likes of 007 ect but this all now seems to have dissapeared.

I just thought i`d bring this up if anyone else though this way as too about the forums recently.

I think i`am going for the "Kenwood KRFV5050 (Silver) £179.95" I`ve gott one that should be here next week from one of those homeshopping catalgos, they want 290 quid for it, so i`am gonna test it out from them, send it back and order from RS (If they ever get anymore in stock) and save sum money. I`ll let ya know what it is like next week sum time if ya can wait till then!

I would`nt bother, there s***e. I had a copy of The Mummy returns and I literally through it in the bin. VCD is usally bad anyway, but this was unwatchable

Don`nt get it from Dixons! It needs chipping to make it Multi Regional as there is NO remote hack for this player. Head over to www.richersounds.co.uk for the same player multiregional and probably cheaper to. Try and pick ya self up a Lg 3200e for 130 at richersounds as this is a great player for the price.

Or you could try www.upgradeheaven.co.uk as these are another good online retailer with good customer support.

There is a huge new line of DVD player coming out now from all the brands so buying the older modles now is a great idea and you will save a lot of doller as most new machines coming out are basically revamped older modles with MP3 player back which you get on ya PC anyway.

Just make sue you aviod Dixons at all cost as 180 quid for a DVD player that has been replaced and now old (and Nosie drive) is a lot of money.

If you really are tight on a budget Woolies were selling a Proline 1000 for 60 quid. Fairly good player but i think they have sold out now, but try haggling in one of there shops for the 60 quid price and you might get a great batgain!

My advice is buy a brand new modle that has just come out like Toshiba SD210e DVD/CD/MP3 Player does all you want from a DVD player under 200 quid. Heres the link! http://www.upgradeheaven.co.uk/

Also have a look at the Pioneer DV340 DVD/CD Player which has now replaced the 530 for the same price as Dixons end of line modle!

They also have an exdisplay modle (Inclearance section) Pioneer DV530 Multiregion DVD Player for 140!

Just ask them to Devalue the Boxset and not to include an invoice with your order. Just put this in the notes section of the order. Then if Customs do open it they won`nt have a clue how much it is worth anyway! I have contacted EzyDVD about this because of the Sopranos Boxset being so cheap and this was the official reply i got of them and seems to work all the time they say with no problems. Please note that i have`nt ordered a boxset from them yet but will bedoing in the coming weeks. Great company though deliver within 4 days.

General Classified Forum? Any updates?

I know i raised this while back and was wondering if there was ny progress yet?

Reason i ask is that i have spend much of my "online time" i.e at Work in the www.theDVDForums.com and have had no end of bargains. My latest was a brang new Keboard direct from Scotland delivered to my door for a tenner, top qaulity make as well. Not to mention the great DVDs i`ve gotten from buying and trading.

Plus i`ve been able to sell many of my old PC parts and been able to upgrade my Computer.

I think that in a forum comunity people are much more trusting and willing to trade as most kept there DVDs in mint condition nowing that fter the have watched it they can always trade it for another DVD.

Another reason wh i brough this up is that i`m after a soundblaster Live! Platium Card as well!

Anyway, can we have an update if there is one, cheers.

Sorry Jimbo i have`nt got back to you all on the subject just i lost the policy number and it took ages to get it all sorted as when i phoned up a gave the wrong name of the person who bought the PC & Cover.

Anway to cut a long stor short there is an engineer coming round Monday or Tuesday hofully. On was ment to come today but did`nt turn up. I`ll post when/if i get a new PC as i had a look inside and there is 2 smashed Chipset!

HI, just to let ya all know that the Region 1 versions is does NOT contain RCE, although it does say RCE. I think they have given up with all the expense of encoding the DVDs as people are finding ways of getting round RCE. This was stated over at thedvdforums.

Try www.dvdboxoffice.com or www.amazon.com if you have any GV`s, but i`d wait for Star, well at least that is what i`am doing to play it safe.

I think having a Classified Adverts Forum would be great, and i`d be happier trading and selling with people whos threads i regulary read. For the people who don`t want a Classified forum, you don`t have to read them, but i think every likes a bargain so people will go to the Classified forum. At the end of the day, what will we lose? Had the same problem when i first got mine. Just buy a oneforall remote with a "Magic" button and "AUX" or "VCR" from Argos use the oneforall hack in the Hacks section and take the remote back to argos if a don`t have an other use for it. If the Hack is`nt in the Hacks section for the Oneforall it will be all over the net so just do a search.
