RE: Wharefedale 750S hacked, but American DVD`s seem to

Today, I plugged my DVD player into my Girlfriend`s Wharefdale TV, and the Region 1 DVD`s played perfectly.

So it seems that my 4 year old Bush TV is to blame.

Thanks for your help everyone!

Jon.

RE: Wharfedale 750s - What discs have problems? Gladiator disk 2?

Yep, I put the DVD player into AUTO mode, then plugged it into my girlfriend`s TV, and it worked fine.

So basically, my TV can`t cope with PAL60.

Thanks all.

Jon.

RE: Wharfedale 750S

Well done Mattyboy, I`m pleased it worked.

Enjoy your DVD`s!

Jon.

RE: Wharfedale 750S

Good luck mattyboy!

I`ve got the same problem with my Wharefdale DVD player, and I was told to set the DVD player to AUTO, so it will change from PAL to PAL60 etc accordingly. Trouble is, it appears my TV can`t cope with it.

Your TV has to be able to cope with PAL60 as well, otherwise, you`ll probably get three flickering pictures on the screen, like I do. I have a Bush TV.

Still, maybe it`ll work on yours, I hope so.

See my message: "Wharfedale DVD hacked, but America DVD`s seem to "judder", placed on this forum last week (12th January). It may be worth a read.

RE: Wharfedale 750s - What discs have problems? Gladiator disk 2?

Dear Orac,

I think you`re on to something there, as when I select Auto on the DVD player, the juddering does seem to stop, but I then get 3 versions of the film on the TV, all flickering in a different way. Which is actually a lot worse to look at.

I think my TV can`t cope with it, whereas most TV`s can. Maybe I`ll change my TV.

Thanks.

Jon.

Dear Bounce...It sounds like you`ve got a better TV than I have.

RE: Wharefedale 750S hacked, but American DVD`s seem to

Thanks for your help, but I still can`t seem to get there!

Setting the DVD player to PAL60 made it even worse, and it seems my TV (a BUSH Nicam) has few settings to try. I think I`ve tried every combination of TV & DVD settings. No w I`ve got a headache, and my eyes ache.

I think what I`ll do next is take the DVD player to my girlfriends house, and try it on her Wharefdale TV - that might solve it.

Thanks again!

RE: Wharfedale 750s - What discs have problems? Gladiator disk 2?

Hi Neil.

I seem to have the same problems as you.

I also have a Wharefedale 750S that I`ve now make Region free. I borrowed an American "Wild Wild West" DVD from a friend to test that the hack had worked. The disk played, but it seems to "judder" when played. Also his American "Austin Powers The Spy Who shagged me" DVD "judders" too. No Region 1 DVD`s judder, but I haven`t tried any other American ones (as I haven`t got any more). I hope they`re not all like it, because I`d rather not bother watching them.

And, I was given Shaolin Wheel of life" for Christmas, and can only play the movie. I cannot get to the extras. I tried playing it on my PC DVD (a Samsung SD608 & it all works fine). I called the Tesco Helpline, and they were unable to help. They said that I should take the DVD disk back, because they didn`t think there was a problem with the player.

So, I cannot help really, but I too would love to know the answers to these issues.

Someone please help us!!

Wharefedale 750S hacked, but American DVD`s seem to "judder"

I have performed the Multi Region hack on my Wharefedale 750S DVD player, and it now allows me to play American DVD`s. However, they do not play properly. I`ve tried "Austin Power 2" & "Wild Wild West" DVD`s, and both of them display a "juddering" picture. Basically, the screen refresh rate seems to slow down, or even freeze about every second or so. It makes it very hard to watch, and I`d rather not bother.

The DVD`s play perfectly well on my friends DVD player.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
