Hack Help Forum
I`ve just joined the world of DVD via a Christmas present, and have just bought my first region 1 dvds, but am having a problem with them.
I`ve enabled region 1 using the multi-region hack on these pages, but when playing region 1 dvds, they are very jerky, jump and lose the sound occasionally when there is a lot of sound and video on screen, almost as though I am playing them on a PC that isn`t fast enough.
The DVDs work fine in other players, anyone got any ideas? Please help me, as it`s really starting to bug me that I can`t watch my new films properly!!! Thanks....Mattyboy!
You need to set the switch to PAL60 on the back.
Cheers Vark - Will give that a go tonight!
Good luck mattyboy!
I`ve got the same problem with my Wharefdale DVD player, and I was told to set the DVD player to AUTO, so it will change from PAL to PAL60 etc accordingly. Trouble is, it appears my TV can`t cope with it.
Your TV has to be able to cope with PAL60 as well, otherwise, you`ll probably get three flickering pictures on the screen, like I do. I have a Bush TV.
Still, maybe it`ll work on yours, I hope so.
See my message: "Wharfedale DVD hacked, but America DVD`s seem to "judder", placed on this forum last week (12th January). It may be worth a read.

Cheers Jon,
I`ve changed my TV System to PAL60, and it works!!! YES! I can finally watch all the DVDs I ordered from the US!
Hope you manage to sort out your TV - mine is a two year old Sony Trinitron, so I guess it was new enough.
Thanks again, and good luck with yours!
Mattyboy
Well done Mattyboy, I`m pleased it worked.
Enjoy your DVD`s!
Jon.
