RE: Widescreen Tellies With Picture In Picture..

Hi EmilyHoward

I bought a Panasonic TX28PB50 in August last year.
I LOVE it !!

3 x Scarts (AV1,2,& 4)
AV1 & 4 support rGB
Composite/Svideo on the front (AV3)
2 x Optical video inputs, which can be tied to any AV imput
PIP - 1/2 and 1/2, or window on the screen, which is movable ( 4 corners)
PIP will allow text as well - so text on one side, picture on the other - not sure why this is useful, but it`s fun !
Dobly Digital sound - rear speakers supplied.

I bought mine from here: http://www.robertwhyteltd.co.uk/shop2/wide/pan_tx28PB50.htm, with a 5 year warranty !
They deliver to all of the UK.

Good Luck

RE: yamada dvr8000 a couple of quick questions...

I bought the MR version from Richer sounds - £149 - very good picture (but then I was upgrading from a 3 1/2 year old SCAN 2000 !!) - no hack needed - played my R1 & 2 all fine.

Nice machine to date - slight issue with S-Video feed in from Sky+ box (See http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/forums/thread.asp?Forum=211&Thread=296969&Type=1)

Yamada 8000 - Newbie query

Hi

New to this DVDR lark - so decided on budget rather than fancy.
Plumped for the Yamada 8000, at £149 at Richer Sounds.

Setup OK, using the S-Video out from SKY+ box to SVideo in on the Yamada.
Picture is not as good as the RGB on the TV (slightly over bright, and there`s some bleeding on text to background - but not as bad as a composite picture)

To troubleshoot, I connected the S-Video to the TV - and the picture is fine, so it`s not an cable or Sky+ issue. Does the Yamada try to step the S-Video signal up to RGB and do it badly, or do I have a duff machine?

So, despite that I tried my first recording - and it looks OK.
I thought that with DVD+RW, you can edit, by marking adverts with chapter markers. and then hiding the chapters - despite doing this, saving it, and then making it "compatible" the hidden chapters still play!

Any picture answers ?
Any ideas where I`m going wrong re the chapteres ?

Cheers

RE: R1 Moulin Rouge on Scan 2000

Update:
Play 247 said this was common - they had a bad batch. They ordered a replacement for me, and despite several "on Froday certainly", it never changed ststus from ordered to Posted. (and they still have non in stock) So I cancelled this and ordered from http:// www.dvdconcept.com.

This arrived in 2 days (very impressed), but was exactly the same - crashing on the opening titles of the film only, and requiring the machine (Scan 2000) to be powered off.

So I started on Chapter 2 - [Paris 1900] - opening camera movement, and it`s fine !!
You only miss the Warner Bros (or 20th Century Fox, can`t remember) Logo etc, and some of the swelling music !

I`ve not seen it all the way through - will try this over the weekend......

RE: Friends DVD season 7...hidden easter egg

Possibly try www.dvdreview.com - I know, a rival site, but they have a good easter egg section.

R1 Moulin Rouge failure on Scan 2000

Help...

I`ve had a Scan2000 for 11 months, with no R1 problems at all.
Therefore I suspect this is software not hardware, but posted in both forums just in case...

R1 Moulin Rouge - all the features and trailers and easter eggs work fine, but when I tried to play the film, on DTS there was no sound, and Dolby 5.1 there was very tinny sound, pixilation and the audio/subtitles menus didn`t work. In addition stopping, and pressing menu sent the screen wild, and crashed the player. Even OPEN on screen message when opening the player was corrupted - Had to power off to fix.

So I set the player from Region 9 to Region 1, but to no change. All other R1 and 2`s are still fine.

Anyone else had problems like this with any other disks, is the disc damaged, or could this be a firmware issue. Are the features and documentries coded differently from the film itself ?

Space Corps Directive 592: In an emergency situation involving 2 or more officers of equal rank, seniority will be granted to whichever officer can program a VCR.

RE: For Everyone who plays Mp3s on their DVD Player

Sounds great, but how does it load onto the DVD player
Am I being thick, or can you load it into firmware, or do you out it on every MP3 disk, or is this for the PC only ?

Confused En_croute !

RE: What player do you have, so I can work out the which players have sold the most.

Scan 2000 (Jan 2001)
So far so good - MP3 firmware to be updated, but Regions Great.

RE: More Scan Woes?

Well, I took the plunge.
Ordere a Scan2000 on Thursday, paid £5 extra for at delivery, and it arrived at 9am Saturday.
So far so good - great pic/sound (Surround, not DTS).
region 9 (Multi) copes with Matrix R1, and Gladiator R2, no problems.

Looks OK, but I`ve put it in a cupboard with an All-in-one IR extender, so looks are not important !!

Cheers all for the help, I would have got the Aiwa, but for 1 SCART plug only, and none in the UK ANYWHERE !!!

RE: Manhattan and Raite clones; do they do the business? And the Mico ...

Get a Stand alone MP3 Player
Get a portable MP3 Player
Get an MP3 playe that holds decent qualtities of music, and will support WMA, and has upgradable firmware.
In Short - get the Creative DAP Player, About £350
6gb HD (150 CD`s)
Fab stuff.

RE: Techtronics LG3350e

The Techtronics 196 price is without VAT....

OK - Call me stupid, but....

Apart from the MP3 player (oh, wow, so useful), what is the difference between the LG 3200e and the LG 3550e.

What is the diference between the Aiwa 370 (Sold out EVERYWHERE) and the LG 3550e.

Yours confused, and wanting to but before the weekend....

Scan 2000 / Aiwa 730 / LG3200 - What a dilemma !

I got a DVD for xmas, and so rose the perfect excuse to get a much wanted DVD player.
Looked at the Manhattan 2000, but only one Scart plug, and rubbish remote control.

The Scan 2000 (£175 inc VAT) has good reviews (www.dvd.reviewer.com), but is not available until Friday, and I`ve heard rumbles about SCAN on these forums.

Them here everyone seems to be raving about the Aiwa 730. Comet (£195), HED (Not listed)

Then there is LG DVD3200E is available from http://www.digitalchoice.co.uk/ at 149.55

HELP !!!
Anyone had experience of these, and is the Aiwa worth the extra cash ?

Cheers
