Media centre PC and Sky Plus

Hi All, I am shorty to get a Media centre PC and want to connect it to my Sky plus box.
I have a couple of questions.
1. As I am already using the scart connection what do I use to connect to the PC?
2. What software do I use to burn and recordings to a DVD, bearing in mind that I will want to play them on `ordinary` DVD players ?

Drive wont read cd`s !

Hi, Sometimes (but not always) my DVD drive will not read cd`s.
It always reads DVD`s ok but I have this intermittent problem that every now and again it will not read cd`s be they program`s, audio cd`s or image cd`s.
Its frustrating problem as it doesn`t occur all the time.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Cant Print from a web page correctly !

Hi, When I try and print from a web page be it text or a picture the text or picture is not complete on the right hand side of the page.
It `cuts` off the text mid-word and the same with images.
It does not then print the missed text or image below or on the next page it`s then just missing !
I have tried going to file, page set-up and altering the margins but I still have the problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Please Click here !

Hi all, I am a newbie to all this pc lark and I have noticed quite a few times that when a post includes a web address all thats needed is to click on the word here and you are taken to the web site.
Can someone tell me how this is done and if this can be done when composing an e-mail ?
Thanks in advance......Ted

Verbatim Digital movie discs were are they ? ? ? ? ? ?

Has anyone seen these discs for sale in the UK ?
http://www.verbatim.com/products/pr....cfm?pro_id=437

I know its `window dressing` but they are `cool` looking DVD+R discs that look like a film reel, and although I have seen them advertised in UK AV magazines they don`t seem to be sale anywhere in the UK !
In fact one of the AV magazines has them down as a award winner for media for 2003 but has not yet reviewed them !
Why do these companies advertise products that are not yet available ???
I think I will be able to make a clock out of one of them as well for my AV room !

Hitachi Ilumina PJ-TX10, an opinion please and Recommendations for other PJ`s

Hi All, I am about to purchase my first pj and was thinking of going for the Hitachi PJ-TX10.
It gets rave reviews in most of the av magazines.
I have a budget of around £1500 and would be grateful of any opinion of the PJ-TX10.
I am after what everyone else wants maximum picture quality for my outlay.
So if anyone can recommend any other pj`s I would be grateful.

Scart Switch box..Help I am lost in scart hell !

I want to be able to output from my Sky+ box to my DVD recorder, my Video and my Archos all at the the same time.
I currently have an unswitched 3 to one adapter that gives me one input and three outputs, but as it`s not switched I get a certain amount of `bleed over`.

What I want is switched scart box that has ONE INPUT and preferably THREE OUTPUTS.

I have tried two different switched boxes (maplins and argos) but both of these do not work as I assume they are not fully wired and are wired for three inputs and one output rather than the other way round.

I am certain there MUST be a box available that gives me the ONE INPUT and THREE OUTPUTS that I require.

Any help would be gratefully received as this is driving me bonkers :-)

Plasma or Projector ?

I am considering upgrading my present set up the sole reason of increasing screen size.
I currently have a 36" Toshiba CRT.
Should I go for a 42" Plasma or a low budget projector ?
Obviously price will play a part. Is the opinion that plasma prices will significantly decrease within the next six months to a year ?
I am a newbie and I am torn between a video projector or a plasma, I know that some `reasonable` projectors can be had for around the £1,200 mark that will give me a significant increase in picture size or would it be worth upgrading to a 42" plasma, that would only increase the screen size from the 36" that I have now to 42 " ?

RE: Philips dvdr dolby digtal outputs

Hi Mike, Thanks for your input but the Maplins adapter you suggest is a simple phono splitter.
I am talking about Dolby Digital.

Thanks again though.......Ted

Help Please ! ! ! ! ! Which format ? ? ?

Video sender...Sender only no receiver ?

Can anyone recommend a video sender that requires just a sender only ?
I had one a few years ago where the receiving signal was picked up by an ordinary aerial.
This way of course there was no need to purchase loads of receivers.

Venturer PS166W Portable.....Argos blah !

I have just purchased the Venturer PS166W and I am very happy with it given the price.
But I would like to purchase a spare battery for the unit, the instruction book doesn`t show ANY contact information for the manufacturers and Argos where I bought the unit are being about as much help as a chocolate tea pot !
Can anyone point me in the right direction to be able to purchase a spare battery for this unit ?

Kind Regards......Ted

RE: Venturer PS166W Portable DVD

Hi Paul, Sorry I have taken so long to get back to you.
I have to say that given the price the Venturer PS166W Portable is outstanding !
The supplied accessories cover ALMOST every eventually (although an s video lead is not supplied) .
I have tried dvr-r discs, dvd+r dics and all play with no problem, so anyone with a Philips DVD recorder will be able to play there discs in this unit with no problem.
I have tried playing back through my TV with the supplied leads and the picture quality is more than acceptable.
I haven`t tried the unit yet hooked up to my Dolby digital amp but the facility is there.
Just as a test I connected my video camera to the unit and played back the footage and it was fine.
I haven`t had the unit long enough to test battery life but I am considering the purchase of a second battery.
Well as you can tell I am a fan !
I repeat though given the price and the accessories and facilities for me its a winner.
Of course what I don`t know about yet is reliability, but of course on that front only time will tell.
