Media centre PC and Sky Plus

Ted bear (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 7th October 2005, 08:25

Hi All, I am shorty to get a Media centre PC and want to connect it to my Sky plus box.
I have a couple of questions.
1. As I am already using the scart connection what do I use to connect to the PC?
2. What software do I use to burn and recordings to a DVD, bearing in mind that I will want to play them on `ordinary` DVD players ?

Regards......Ted

1.Your Sky+ box will have two scart connections, so use the second one to go to your PC. Not sure if both scart sockets supply RGB output, you`ll need to check your SKY+ box manual to see if they do.

2.You`ll need some authoring software - If you have a recent version of Nero, that can do it all for you, though I much prefer the results I get TMPGenc DVD Author- a very easy to use authoring program and a DVD burner all in one. There is a free trial (fully working) version on the net so you can suck it and see.

Another option is sky plus has svhs socket, if your media centre tv card has this its a breeze, its easy to tune the box. just need the right leads to get the sound. or you can use a scart connector.

I assumed the media centre PC will have an RGB equipped scart, if so that will give you better quality over the SVideo option, but if it doesn`t, Svideo is the next best
