Samsung HR 720 Fault

I have a fault with my Samsung HR 720 that not even Samsung themselves seem to be able to figure out!!

For whatever reason the picture skips/jumps and then freezes at around 1 hour and 40 minutes into a film...its not a disc fault because it happens on every single dvd over 1hr 40 long!

Any ideas what might be wrong with the damned thing?

RE: Multi Region DVD Player for £30.00? Suggestions?

I`m not sure if there is an Alsi near me....I`ll have to ask :) But so far I`m with the Pacific 1002 as that has had the most recommendations.

I just saw a Compacks DVD 800 in woolworths for £29.99...can this be hacked?

Thanks for the advice so far :)

RE: Multi Region DVD Player for £30.00? Suggestions?

Not that it`s any of your damn buisiness anyway...but she has family in America who want to be able to send her DVD`s for Christmas etc....and besides...some of the films she wants haven`t been released on DVD on Region 2...ever....Plus alot of the DVD`s I have are Region 1 and if I can get her a multi-region player I can lend her DVD`s.

What kind of dumbass useless response was that anyway? Hmmm? Just answer the question or don`t bother replying.

RE: Freeview On Indoor Ariel?

Do Boosters really work? The bloke in my local TV Repair shop said they are a con.

Ronin P215

Simple question really....

Ronin P215

Is it any good? I am looking for a Multi Region DVD Player for £30-£40 and I saw this one at Special Reserve....

At the moment I am looking at the Pacific 1002 from Asda, but does this Ronin beat it?

RE: Freeview On Indoor Ariel?

Okies....I`ll see about running an extention through from the front room then...a lot of cable, but I`m sure I can tidy it away. I can`t really put up an outdoor ariel just for this...I`m two floors up in a council flat...they won`t let me put up an ariel...although they did let me put up a satalite!!

RE: Multi Region DVD Player for £30.00? Suggestions?

How about this one?

Ronin P215

It`s £34.99 at Special Reserve...is it any good?

RE: Freeview On Indoor Ariel?

What about signal senders?

RE: Multi Region DVD Player for £30.00? Suggestions?

LOL...I know I don`t have much in the way of options...I don`t mind going up to £40.00 (Big spender...lol...)....but I was wondering anyway :) It`s for my Nan you see, she doesn`t need bells and whistles.

I`ve just seen the hack, seems easy enough...thanks :)

Freeview On Indoor Ariel?

I want ot get Freeview for my TV in Bedroom...buy I have no outdoor ariel connection nearby :( Is there any way of getting a good signal with an indoor ariel? Or are any of those remote signal senders any good? I don`t really want to have to run a lead to the freeview box.

RE: Multi Region DVD Player for £30.00? Suggestions?

I am looking for a brand new one. I`ll look into the Pacific :) How much is it? Any other suggestions though? So I have some options.

Yamada DVD 8000 Sound Fault

Hi,

I am having trouble with my Yamada DVD 8000 Recorder which I purchased new only three weeks ago.

It has been working fine up until now but has developed a fault that I cannot seem to rectify.

For some reason there is a very loud humming noise which overides all of the playback (I can just about make out the sound of the film under all the humming), and when I command the player to do something I hear bleepy noises (rather like fax machine sounds) mixed in with the hum. I have all of the leads in correctly and have not had this problem until now.

Does anyone know what could be wrong here?

Yamada 8000 set up problem...help please

Hi,

I have just got my new Yamada DVD Recorder and have set all the cables up correctly so far as I can tell, but for some reason I can`t seem to get it to tune into Sky for the record settings :(

One problem seems to be a missing menu screen on the tuning menu...it is supposed to come up with a screen asking whether you want to search for Air (Terrestrial?) or Cable but it doesn`t do this so I think it is trying to search Air by default and it can`t find anything...this might be because I don`t have it connected to Terrestrial anymore...but how do I get it to search for Cable?

RE: Multi Region DVD Recorder For £200?

Hmmm...no mention of 5.1 on any of their models...I wonder why Special Reserve say that it is 5.1 compatible?

I`ve checked with the manual on my old DVD Recorder (Philips DVDR 980) and it seems that it wasn`t 5.1 either, just Dolby Pro Logic and I`m more than happy with the sound that it offers :) So the Yamada may be a good choice after all....unless there is a 5.1 compatible DVD Recorder for under £200 out there....I`ll ask in Maplins on Monday.

Thanks for the help with the Yamada blodwin...it has been very useful :)
