What DVD Recorder in the £200 price range would you recommend?

I`d like Multi-Region and 5.1.

Any advice greatly recieved :)

What about the Panasonic DMR-ES20 available for just £184.99 with free delivery here?

Whatever you do, steer clear of Phillips and most budget brands. Liteons can all be made multi-region with a simple remote hack and come with a 2 year manufacturers warranty. The LVW-5115GHC+ is the current top of the range non-HDD model, if you want to Google it online. ;)

But the Panasonic has many more attractive features than the Liteon, inluding a built-in Freeview tuner to record from.

Thanks for that...I`ll definatley be considering that one...doesn`t say about 5.1...i assume that it is.

You weren`t specific about that requirement. Both the Panasonic and the Liteon support Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, and I know the Panny also supports DTS (although not 100% sure on the Liteon). But you must assume the output on both machines will be digital - either optical, co-ax or both.

If you require a built-in decoder with the 6 phono socket outputs, then I don`t think either of those machines has that. It is not so common.

Is that what you meant? Or does your sound system have digital inputs?
