RE: Cancelled shows

Theres been quite a few shows I`ve got right into then bang all of a sudden no explanation just stops.

Most of them have been listed above. I don`t think I saw witchblade listed so I`ll add that to the list. Was a good show at least I thought it was. What gave me the hump was i t wasn`t released on DVD even with what they did with it I would ave bought it and quite a few more people would of from the looks of the fan base.

My 2 pence.

RE: Mp3 player or hi-md

Hi Jim

my eyes have been opened to whats out there I could get a gig which is what I wanted then I saw the iriver ihp 20 and thought that I could put more or less all my music on it and rather than picking what I can put on the 1 gig I could put a whole album on and have it all in one place.

My eyes are bigger than my wallet but I think i`ll stump it up.

RE: Mp3 player or hi-md

Just tp add tp that the only bugger with the iRiver is the battery say 2 - 3 years when they possibly die you cant aparantly change them yourself you have to send them away and gawd knows if iRiver at thtat time will change em`.

Other than that looks like a cracking bit of kit :)

RE: Mp3 player or hi-md

Been a very hard decision and I had a Md and had no quibbles with it just struggling with the 80 mins discs so the 1 gig discs will be great and having followed md`s for some time I feel like its a dieing fight. Then I`m left thinking well I could fork out the initial £300 odd quid a new unit will cost get 20 or more discs and stock up on them but then I leave myself thinking I`m buying a dead media but it would still be ideal even if its was left with just the die hard Md junkies.

Gasp

Then I look at the Iriver 20GB MP3 Player and think iCaramba and think yeah this is great I had a rumage through hdd mp3 players and flash ones and this looks like a lovely bit of kit and 20 gig well that will easily cover all my musical needs and more. So no expensive memory sticks needed. So I`m going to go with this lovely unit. (thanks to VinceDVD recomendation and all)

Just feel a little bad thinking about hi-md the new units do look sweet and nice and small and all the usual great features and the ability to upload and down form the unit and added new features. I do wonder even if it does sadly fade away I would still have a unit with at least a few gig discs for my listening pleasure till. But what to do if it packs up or needs a fix.

So to put a cork in it the Iriver it is.

Thanks to all your input was very much appreciated.

Mp3 player or hi-md

Hi all,

Having a bit of a dilema been sitting on the fence and am about to get off it. I want some kind of portable music and its a choice between hi-ms or one of these 1 gig mp3 players.

Anyone advice on which to go for would be grate, starting to drive me crackers readin specifications for these things.

Cheers
Happy easter

RE: It`s half term. Time to get the.......

Yep half term is here and the little critters are out in a full force.

Just watch yourself they seem to be moving in groups of 6 upwards and standing about like old laddies speaking with bad english and this is what is considered cool?

hmmm at that age I was chasing gorgeous girls not standing about like a tit talking about crap to other fellas saved my crap for the women. ;)

So keep an eye on yourself and keep your bat to the ready and be careful geezer. Little punks these days got all sorts of crap under those layers of clothes to hide there skinny bodies.

Cheers

Sony Ericsson T610

Just bought one of these for myself. Thought being christmas and anyone in the market for a new phone might be interested.

It`s a lovely little phone has a few quirks, not so great when use in daylight, only has 2mb of memory which isn`t a lot with a phone that has so many features. But for it`s price you can do far worse.

I think the sony ericsson have done a good job all in all with this little puppy. Not to pricey about £200 or less on PAYG. And free on contract.

I think I read a review of it on here somewhere by westy. Must say cracking review what made me look at the phone closely.

For the price of this phone you can do so much. Jam packed with features. Ahhh yeah if it`s still under warranty you cn take it along to a sony ericson service centre for a firmware update which is supposed to cure a few problems with delays etc. Well worth the upgrade. Can`t remember what else it does sure a google search will tell you.

Be interested if anyone owns one and has any feedback back on it.

Cheers and happy christmas every one DVDrewiewer your all all a cracking bunch.

dvd releases

Evening all

RE: parenting probs

mike G
he had a good up bringing, he`s always been quite close to his mum. As far as school goes he`s
never really been the academic type.

As far as his girlfriends some of them are friends from 6th form and ex-girlfriends wanting to go out with him
from what my wife says. I don`t understand him he has everything going for him and yet just sits there like a veg.
These are lovely young ladies met a few of them and seem nice and are gorgeous god knows how his brain works at 22 I know
what my mind would be saying.

Indeed if its more serious than I`m starting to suspect the army is no place for him. I read a little on it and it can be treated
but he has to want it etc. But best leave that to the experts to decide. I can`t see any reason why he`s depressed. Although
I`m not around 24 hours a day and things may happen and I can`t keep up with the pack of them but I do try.

Fair point about the definiteion of normal. Given me another view point to think about. Its just he never seemed so shy from 15 to 19/20
but now he does seem very quiet and shy.

My next port of call will be a psychiatrist (for penzance reasons) better to be safe than sorry I love my kids to bits and don`t want to do wrong by them
jumping to the wrong conclusions.

lol my old man used to give me a clump when I was out on the lash did not help my head with a hangover

Appreciate the time you took Mike

REALPAULH

I might get him a guitar for xmas :)
Maybe in the end he`ll find his own way.

penzance

Appreciate the tip on going to a psychiatrist rather than a GP. I`ve had a read about a few mental illness sites
and he seems to fit he bill of having bi-polar disorder but I don`t want to go sticking tags on his name. I think he
needs a proper assesment and to talk and find out whats happened what the problem is and hopefully work towards overcoming it.

I hope he has an epiphany soon I don`t want him to look back on his life and say i`m 40 what the hell have I done with my life
why didn`t you do something dad.

I`m very grateful to all replies

RE: parenting probs

No idea maybe manson usually some hard rock drum and base, house, hip-hop, reggea ska some off it I quite like.

Army hmmm is a thought. He used to box at ameteur level and was good then came the personality change and lack of dicipline and that went out the window maybe the army would whip him into shape. Can`t see him going volentarily.

RE: parenting probs

Appreciate the replies

Everytime I cut his finances off his beloved mum always gives in and goes behind my back and gives him some :/

I`ve told her you kep doing it time and time again he`ll never change and whats does she do not but a week ago.

But the bottom line is I`m going to play the chucking him out card unless he contributes to the household.

I got him the local college prospectus for the september that had just passed made him sit down and look at it he went though
it and said theres nothing that interested him. Well septembers gone and I don`t much care what interests him he can
get in sainsburys or bar work but hes working till next september where something will interest him or his backside
will feel my boot.

lol neil gawd knows some marilyn someone and other weird names once dared walking into his room to turn that crap off and tripped on

a pile of cd`s picked on up and thought hmmm each to their own. Nah don`t think he`s a goth at least he doesn`t dress in black (much)
and fly about the streets on a scooter with his finger nails painted. If he did he would be long gone by now stuff that game.

He really is an annoying kid his sisters are 17 19 and a younger probother at 15 and he`s more mature than him, well mannered
does what he`s told, and is a good kid they all are part from this dodgy lad.

Sometimes I wonder if there was a mixup at the hospital.

parenting probs

Afternoon all,

a bit OT but thought someone in here might be able to help out.

Well i`ll try and put this in a nutshell

My eldest 22 doesn`t want to study or do anything, he lays in bed all day listens to weird rock music only comes out of his room for food. Speaks to no one in the house, never replies when spoken to I`ve forgotten what his voice sounds like. Hes been in a downward spiral for the past 2 years everytime I try to find out or make suggetions he walks away. My wife says he`s just a normal kid we`ve had many arguments on it I want him to go to college and do something with his life no be a layabout. And its not normal at that age I was out at every opportunity getting drunk with mates waking up on park benches with last night kebab stuck to me and getting a leg over a female every now and then ;)

But this boy doesn`t want anything form life, has no friends has a string of girlfriends always calling for him but his strange behaious seems to have scared them off.

Personally I`m at the point of booting him up the backside my refuses to do anything and just says let him be. At this time of my life I was hoping all my kids would be at university and I`d have some time finally for myself no some stroppy son giving me grief.

After giving it a lot of thought and chuking ideas about I know its not drugs, he doesn`t go out or have any money. Am actually stumpt I`ve been thinking maybe a mental illness bought a book on it during my lunch break last week been reading it at work and the "symptoms" for a condition called bi-polar disorder (manic depression) seem to fit the bill down the every detail. But could I be making a mistake in talking to his GP to maybe try getting him some help or should I just leave him to work it out alone.

Phuuuf feel better getting that off my chest and input would be great :)

RE: Home hifi

Appreciate all the extremely good advice given picked up the speakers and cable on saturday from richer sounds when I got back my good lady had signed for the denon and thought waaahey what a bit of luck just in time. Thought I might have to wait a little longer but fast delivery ripped everything open like a child opening his xmas presents :)

Flicked through the manuals. Wired it up postioned it on the stands I got and fingers crossed turned it on and was chuffed at the sound a compact little unit delivers very very good sound for the price so no complaints from me.

All in all went smoothly and my ars are happy :)

thanks to all :)

RE: Cleaning??

erm.... you tried flash bathroom spray?

soulman

RE: Home hifi

quick update: went to richer sounds they had the denon there with the SC-M51speakers that it comes with and those mission m71i`s the man in richer was very helpful I asked to try them both out and to be honest the ones it comes with are pretty good as you said theres not much in the price difference between the 2 just felt the missions had the edge and I liked the appearance more (not the best of reasons to pick them). The sound was that bit crisper to my ears bass was good.

so I picked up the missions and the hi-fi cable that you recommended (cheers)... the man in the store said its quite a decent system for a small living room and theres not much need to waste wad of dosh as he put it on a sep system if its not going to be used to the maximum.

apologies for the longish post

I love a happy ending

RE: Play order

don`t get me wrong play are *great* ordered heaps from them never any greif looks like the problem is the postabl service :( unfortunately I live in london and in the affected post code :(

so fair play to play so to speak and lets hope these postal workers stop f-cuking about its causing me untold greif I haven`t received any mail for a while now. Not looking forward to getting a moutain of mail coming through my letter box. But I am looking for to my orders coming :-)

soulman

RE: Home hifi

cheers again

ordered the denon and will go down to richer sounds to get the mission speakers and that cable :)

soulman

RE: Home hifi

Thanks for that sput been looking at the setup looks pretty good and price isn`t too bad I think thats the way to go.

The denon is a good setup aswell but having just spent a while reading up on seperates its a beautyful thing :) being able to mix and match. Those mission speakers look the business.

update: having said that the times now 11.40pm ish I could see myself buying a seperate system and not even using half its power and would be a total waste of money which my good lady acuses me of doing all the time. So I think i`ll spend the money on that smart looking capable denon without the speakers and get the missions and some nice speaker stands and I actually think i`ll be more than satisfied. My main use was just for cd and radio nd that does it and with those speakers it will deliver a good sound so I reckon i`ll go for that.

Owe you guys a pint been battling in my head which to go for ... cheers

RE: Home hifi

evening fellas

appreciate the replies. My budget is quite flexible but I don`t want to go overboard I would say £500 tops on a budget.

That looks like a nice little system I also saw this one TECHNICS SCHHD350 MICRO

http://www.qed-uk.com/q?i=0-E3i607xqq8&vp=6&bg=207&bp=350s&bi=0

fair price nice looking system but I haven`t been able to find a review on it.

What do you guys think?

or do you reckon the one sput2001 recomended with perhaps some good speakers?

soulman

Home hifi

When it comes to hifi I only know the basics I basically am looking for a crisp sounding system and was wondering if I should go with a mirco hifi setup or a hifi seperates which would cost more.

Now my main uses would be only radio and cd only

now with a seperate system not sure if I got this right you have the cd player, the radio, the amp and the speakers? is that everything I need or have I missed something.

As with a micro unit you plub it in and all is done for you which would be simpler and cheaper but would I be losin out from superior sound. Not looking to opening a night club in my home I have quite a small living room also.

so I would be grateful if anyone has any recomendations for a hifi newbie on how to spend some money wisely

cheers

RE: I`ve got the hump

I`m glad I didn`t chuck mself down the escalators or infront of a tube.

Cheers Spiny :)

I`ve got the hump

After a brief journey on the tube coming down the escalators I saw a advert to the side as you do ... it was a play.com advert for 2 dvds for 12 odd quid ... at this point I wanted to chuck myself down the escalators but refrained form doing so as there was only 3 steps to go and would`ve looked stupid....

So standing on the platform waiting for my tube to come I turn left and theres a big monster of a play advert right up where everyone can see it same add just bigger

I contemplated chucking myself under a tube but I was near the front where it was going about 3mph

why oh why lord have you done this to do I thought play was my dirty little secret mine mine mine

/me holds head in hands and cries

ere I hope they dunt up there prices ... I`ve been using them for ages ordered loads never had one problem!

RE: handyman in SE London?

I know a fella whos a decent little decorator and doesn`t charge a fortune he should for the work he does!

was well chuffed with the geezer. He`s a painter not sure what sort of decorating you want but he`s just a domestic painter bit of a picaso ... does like to take his time is neat and tidy also like to chat which isn`t a problem but so do I :D

As for the rest of the stuff I don`t know anyone who could help.

Let me know if you want his details I`ve got them somwhere :)
