Sainsburys selling Sony DAVSC6 for 299.99
Reduced from 599.99, this is a brilliant price for this all-in-one system. My local Sainsbury seems to be slowly off-loading all its stock of electrical gear at reduced prices, including TVs, DVD and Video players, HI-FIs, etc.
Jurassic Park #5.99 at Morrisons
Just picked this up at the Cheadle store. Great price if you don`t have it already.
RE: Sainsburys free beer/DVD offer
Checked again last night and I`m not wrong! This is Sainsbury`s in Altrincham and the offer is #9.99 for 10x25 ml bottles of Stella plus a choice of Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Dawn til Dusk, plus another film I don`t remember. Any of these = a good night in, methinks.
Sainsburys free beer/DVD offer
Went in my local Sainsburys last night and they have an offer whereby if you buy either a pack of beer (grolsch I think) for 9.99, you get a free DVD, (choice of 4 including Pulp Fiction). It might be the other way round though, ie buy a DVD for 9.99 and get free beer. Same difference though, I suppose.......
RE: Are Splash now Blah?
Gerard, since it was my good self who brought these concerns to this site, I apologise unreservedly for any harm my comments may have made to your bone-fide business. But, as previously mentioned by other contributors, you must understand people`s concerns with what now looks like an unfortunate coincidence. Splash owe good people a lot of money! Maybe the Splash non-connection has brought you some unexpected publicity, and if so, I hope this works in your favour. So, best wishes to yourself and Blah.

Are Splash now Blah?
Just been reading the DVD Bargains section in AVForums and there is a curiously unconvincing recommendation of a site at which to buy Kill Bill. Reading the thread, it seems that Blahdvd is located in the same building as Splash were. Could be coincidence but........
Crouching Tiger cheap at Woolworth
Ok, so most of you will have it, but my local Woolies has CTHD for #4.99.
RE: School of Rock (and the R1 DVD)...
SoR is the funniest movie I have seen for a long time. Took the kids who all enjoyed it, but most of the laughing was done by the older folk like meself. See it at a cinema with a kick-ass sound system.
RE: Game Sale
Checked out Game at the Trafford Centre yesterday and they have, among others, Band Of Brothers tin for £29.99 and LOTR TTT collector`s addition (with Gollum statue) for £24.98, Bourne Identity for £4.99.
RE: The Shield season 1 - bargain at Play
Yep, superb. Got mine for £20 from (wait for it..) Splash before Xmas using the £5.00 off voucher. Great price but it took a month to arrive.
The Shield season 1 - bargain at Play
Only £17.99 for this brilliant TV series box set. Here`s a link
RE: BP Ultimate Fuel - Be warned!!!!
Just another point. I work for a major roadside recovery company and it is worth noting that, if you have had your vehicle recovered and fixed at no cost to yourself by RAC/AA/Green Flag etc, you will still have used up one of your free annual callouts, which you might regret later. If BP have agreed to pay for the cost of recovering your car, then call your rescue company, explain what has happened, and ask them to bill you for the callout, and reinstate your free callout that has been used up.
RE: Does anyone know the best GAMECUBE DEAL?
Just bought the Argos bundle which is £99.99 and includes 2 controllers, memory card, MarioKartDD, Zelda Bonus Disk, and a £5.00 voucher. I actually bought some other stuff as well which brought my spend to just over £150.00 for which I received £15.00 of vouchers. Pretty good deal.
R2 Indy £21.99 at HMV.co.uk
As above plus £1.40 P&P. Looks like a bargain to me!
RE: HOw much are places like Asda selling LOTR:TTT EE for?
Just to confirm, Morrisons are selling LOTR:TTT EE for £19.99 and FOTR EE for £16.99, so that`s £36.98 for 8 discs worth of LOTR.
RE: £3 Voucher off Blackstar with Tiscali
Have yourself a sugarlump, Mr Ed, just ordered Gangs of New York for £5.99.
Clean Screen
Why is is so difficult to get a widescreen television that has a clean screen? What I mean is when you view a white picture (eg a snowy scene), it should be completely white from one side to the other with no darkening or discolouration anywhere across the screen. I am on my third telly now and this one will be going back soon! The first was a JVC AV2825EK which was great on the day a bought it but soon developed darkening in the corners, then further strange colour patches appeared. This was diagnosed as a faulty tube and, due to no availability of the JVC, it was replaced by a Sony 28DX40. The Sony arrived with one darkened corner (top left) plus a sort of purple-tinged patch on the left hand side. This has been replaced by another 28DX40 which has the same darkened corner but now with an orange colouration down the right hand side.
I have had engineers out who did all the usual degaussing etc but to no avail. The telly isn`t sited near anything metallic either.
Does anyone know about this? Am I unlucky or is this just the way it is? Should I continue to have John Lewis send replacements until I find one that is right? Will I ever find one that is right? Any advice or comment are very welcome.

RE: Why not get em secondhand from Blockbuster?
Strange comments, Lore. Like most people here, I have never had any problems buying online and find the whole process convenient, efficient, exciting, and (usually) far superior value for money than buying on the high street. I too have also rummaged through the ex-rental bins in Blockbuster only to be amazed at the high prices charged for such scruffy, tatty merchandise. I`d rather buy a new copy with special features thanks very much. Whilst I don`t doubt your statement that you don`t work for BB, were BB to have, say, a warehouse full of ex-rental titles that they were desperate to off-load, then curiously your comments would be just the type of things that an unscrupulous BB employee might say. Also, buy ex-rental VHS? getoudahere!!!
RE: Blockbuster - free DVD rentals,
Could be Moulin Rouge?
RE: CD WOW discount popups

Axis of Evil latest....
Axis of Evil by John Cleese
Bitter after being snubbed for membership in the "Axis of Evil", Libya,
China and Syria today announced that they had formed the "Axis of Just
as Evil", which they said would be more evil than that stupid
Iran-Iraq-North Korea axis President Bush warned of in his State of the
Union address.
Axis of Evil members, however, immediately dismissed the new Axis as having,
for starters, a really dumb name. "Right. They are just as evil ..... in
their dreams!" declared North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. "Everybody knows
we`re the best evils . ... best at being evil . . . we`re the best."
Diplomats from Syria denied they were jealous over being excluded, although
they conceded they did ask if they could join the Axis of Evil. "They
told us it was full," said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. "An axis can`t
have more than three countries", explained Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
"This is not my rule, it`s tradition. In World War II you had Germany,
Italy, and Japan in the evil Axis. So, you can only have three, and a secret
handshake. Ours is wickedly cool."
International reaction to Bush`s Axis of Evil declaration was swift, as
within minutes, France surrendered. Elsewhere, peer-conscious nations rushed
to gain triumvirate status in what has become a game of geopolitical chairs.
Cuba, Sudan and Serbia announced that they had formed the "Axis of Somewhat
Evil", forcing Somalia to join with Uganda and Myanmar in the "Axis of
Occasionally Evil", while Bulgaria, Indonesia and Russia established the
"Axis of Not So Much Evil Really as Just Generally Disagreeable".
With the criteria suddenly expanded and all the desirable clubs filling up,
Sierra Leone, El Salvador, and Rwanda applied to be called the "Axis of
Countries That Aren`t the Worst But Certainly Won`t Be Asked to Host the
Olympics".
Canada, Mexico and Australia formed the "Axis of Nations That Are Actually
Quite Nice But Secretly Have Some Nasty Thoughts About America",
while Scotland, New Zealand and Spain established the "Axis of Countries
That Want Sheep to Wear Lipstick". "That`s not a threat, really, just
something we like to do", said Scottish Executive First Minister Jack
McConnell.
While wondering if the other nations of the world weren`t perhaps making fun
of him, a cautious Bush granted approval for most axes, although he
rejected the establishment of the "Axis of Countries Whose Names End in
`Guay", accusing one of its members of filing a false application. Officials
from Paraguay, Uruguay, and Chadguay denied the charges.
Israel, meanwhile, insisted it didn`t want to join any Axis, but privately
world leaders said that`s only because no one asked them.

R1and R2 versions of Futurama series 1. What`s the difference?
Play have R1 Futurama series 1 for £19.99 and R2 for £29.99. Anyone know the if there is any difference between these apart from the obvious? Is there any reason to stump up an extra tenner for R2 version?
RE: Cd-Wow no customs
"the whole point of customs is to protect our economy, if all goods that are cheaper abroad were brought abroad than our economy would suffer, loss of lobs etc cus nobody is buying goods in this country. "
Flateric, countries impose tariffs on imported goods mostly to raise revenue for Gordon Brown. Or are you suggesting that eg. duty on Tobacco is to protect the British tobacco growing industry and those vast rolling fields of Tobacco commonly found all over the UK? Does duty on Port protects British Port manufacturers? I think not.
Countries also impose tarriffs on certain imported goods usually as a political gesture to protect inefficient or hopeless domestic industries. This nearly always ends in failure.
The Dish, £7.99 + P&P @amazon.co.uk.
Quite a few decent titles in their £7.99 section.
RE: Jaws 25th Anniversary edition £7.99 @DVD.CO.UK
Don`t know how quick they will get more stock, but I ordered this on Friday and it arrived 07.00 Monday morning, so I was impressed with their service. Maybe I got the only one they had in stock! They should still honour the price though for you. Seems to be £14-£15 or more most other places.

Great film, great deal, won`t take a big bite out of your plastic.
RE: Digital Camera Owners!!
Check out kenrockwell.com. This guy knows his photographic onions and explains just about all you need to know about digital (and conventional) photography. He`s into top end stuff, way above your budget, but the additional info is well worth a read. He recommends stuff based on his or his friends useage, not what he reads on the net.
